John Cena Under Fire For Supporting Vince McMahon After Disgusting Allegations
John Cena has grown to become a certified movie star and household name since his departure from WWE wrestling, due in large part to the success he found with the massive entertainment venture. Unfortunately, the beloved actor owes a great deal of his success to long-time friend and collaborator Vince McMahon.
McMahon was recently accused of a number of heinous crimes, including decades of sexual misconduct. Now, John Cena has come under fire for refusing to denounce Vince McMahon, and for doubling down on his personal and professional relationship with the alleged abuser.
John Cena Has Nothing But Nice Words For Vince McMahon
During a recent episode of The Howard Stern Show on Sirius XM, John Cena was asked about the current situation with Vince McMahon, who stepped down from the wrestling company in June of 2022 pending the results of an internal investigation. Rather than publicly distance himself from the 78-year-old businessman, Cena took the opportunity to express sympathy, empathy, and friendship to McMahon, even as his legacy has become completely overtaken by his alleged crimes.
Cena Doesn’t Put Much Thought Into The Allegations
During the interview, John Cena explained that he is an advocate for friendship and honesty, though he also expects accountability out of his friends. The 46-year-old former wrestler went on to express that he chooses not to “put a lot of time and equity” into the horrific allegations, leaving some fans to believe he isn’t interested in Vince McMahon showing accountability at all.
Cena concluded his thoughts by reiterating his love and respect for McMahon, remarking that the controversy will be a hill for the business mogul to overcome.
Fans React On Social Media
Needless to say, many fans are outraged by this position, as the same respect has never been extended to the supposed victims of sexual assault, harassment, and human trafficking which took place during McMahon’s tenure as co-founder of the WWE.
Does John Cena Think The Accusations Are False?
Allegations of sexual assault and sex trafficking, if true, are much more than a hill to traverse or an asterisk on one’s career, no matter how fruitful their labor may have been within the industry. If John Cena believes these allegations to be true, it is shocking to many wrestling fans that he would stand by his friend while nebulously citing a need for accountability.
Conversely, the Peacemaker star may be quietly implying that he doesn’t believe the allegations against Vince McMahon are true in the first place, as he has continued to encourage McMahon to communicate with the public about the ongoing allegations.
The Assault Allegations
The evidence of these crimes has continued to mount for several years, with multiple victims and eyewitnesses coming forward to corroborate the decades-long pattern of abuse. If John Cena truly wishes to deny that the crimes occurred, he may be well advised to vocalize that, instead of offering love and support to a man who currently looks extremely guilty in the eyes of the public.
At this time, Vince McMahon has not been found guilty in a court of law for these allegations, though pressure has continued to mount for the affected parties to build a legal case against the WWE founder for some time.
