Jennifer Lopez has been a style icon as long as she has been in the public eye. Even though she has been a multi-hyphenated actress, singer, dancer, and philanthropist since the early 1990s, she is not resting on her fashion laurels. She is currently blowing up Instagram with an amazing shot of a fitting. And of course, since she’s a stone-cold diva, it is not just any simple fitting. No, Jennifer Lopez is styling an ornate chain mail corset courtesy of designer Rob Zangardi. Ever the fashionista, J. Lo seems just as comfortable in the sheer metal and sculpted bodice of metal roses as she does in classic red carpet wear. See the corset here:
Though she has never really been out of style, Jennifer Lopez has been resurging over the last couple of years. She produced and starred in a NBC crime procedural called Shades of Blue between 2016-2018. At the same time, she held a Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood’s Zappo Theater. After 120 shows, the residency eventually grossed over $100 million in sales.
It only serves to remind that not only has Lopez been starring in films for years, but she has also had an immensely popular music career. She broke through into film stardom with the biopic film Selena. While critically praised, her casting also raised controversy for the selection of a New Yorker of Puerto Rican descent to play the iconic Mexican-American singer.
However, that did not slow down her career. In 2001, Jennifer Lopez became the first woman to have a number one film (The Wedding Planner) and number one album (J.Lo) simultaneously. She had a slew of other hit films in various genres. Lopez starred in the science fiction film The Cell with Vincent D’Onofrio, and numerous romantic comedies like Maid in Manhattan.
She also became known for high-profile romances with music producer Sean Combs/Puff Daddy/P.Diddy/Diddy and most famously, actor/director/Dunkin Donuts fan Ben Affleck. Lopez starred in the notorious bomb film Gigli with Affleck, which he has since credited with pushing him into directing. The pair reunited after last year, to general public delight.
Jennifer Lopez is set to return to romantic comedies with the film Marry Me. Co-starring Owen Wilson (himself no stranger rom-coms), the film features a pop star played by Lopez impulsively marrying a stranger after a personal crisis. To accompany the film’s release, Lopez has also released a new track called “After Love.” Ever the expert at synergy, Lopez is also coming out with a soundtrack album to accompany the new film.
While romantic comedies may not tend to garner many accolades, Lopez has also been increasingly acclaimed for her performances. In 2019, she was nominated for a Golden Globe and numerous other awards for her performance in the crime thriller Hustlers. But as long as Jennifer Lopez is posting thirst traps like that chain mail corset, she’s not going to have to do a lot to keep eyes on her.
