Jamie Foxx Posts For First Time Since Medical Emergency
Jamie Foxx posted a message to Instagram thanking his supporters for all their well wishes.
Jamie Foxx sent a message on social media almost three weeks after being hospitalized for an unknown medical complication. The 55-year-old reportedly fell ill while filming the Netflix comedy Back in Action in Atlanta. “Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed,” the Oscar-winning actor wrote on Instagram alongside a fox and heart emoji.
The actor’s daughter announced his hospitalization in April, saying the actor was already recovering thanks to prompt medical care. She also requested privacy for Jamie Foxx and his family at the time. The Spider-Man: No Way Home actor also shared an Instagram story thanking Nick Cannon for substituting as host on Beat Shazam.
“Appreciate [you], my boy Nick Cannon. See [you] all soon,” Jamie Foxx wrote along with a screenshot of a post from his daughter Corinne, who serves as a DJ on the popular game show. She is temporarily being replaced by Kelly Osbourne to be with her father as he recovers. Jeremy Renner, who is currently recovering from a snowplow accident, took to the comments to offer support.
“Sending you strength and love,” the Marvel alum wrote. Other celebrities, including action star Vin Diesel, Courteney Cox, and singer John Legend, replied with the prayer emoji. Musician Mary J Blige also sent her love to Jamie Foxx with a simple message that read, “Love you, Jamie.” Naturally, fans showed their appreciation for the actor with their own notes.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Journal reports that filming has wrapped on Back in Action with stand-ins and body doubles replacing Jamie Foxx. Billed as an action comedy, the movie is directed by Seth Gordon, who co-wrote the script with Brendan O’Brien. It features an all-star cast including Cameron Diaz, Kyle Chandler, and Glenn Close. But there are currently no details about the plot.
Seth Gordon previously worked with Jamie Foxx on the 2011 comedy Horrible Bosses. The movie showcased an ensemble cast with Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis in the lead roles. Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell, and Kevin Spacey also star. The story follows three friends who decide to murder their overbearing, abusive bosses.
Along with his role in Back in Action, Jamie Foxx has several other projects in the works where he serves as a voice actor, director, and producer. The actor will lend his voice to Bug in Strays, directed by Josh Greenbaum and written by Dan Perrault. The story follows a dog named Reggie who, after being abandoned by his owners, teams up with other strays to seek revenge.
The Burial, produced by Amazon Studios, is based on a true story and a New Yorker article by Jonathan Harr. The story takes place in 1995 and follows a cash-strapped funeral home owner who sues his rival when a deal goes wrong. The cast includes Jamie Foxx, Tommy Lee Jones, Jurnee Smollett, Mamoudou Athie, Dorian Missick, Pamela Reed, Amanda Warren, and Bill Camp.
Maggie Betts directs the film from a screenplay by Doug Wright. Jamie Foxx will also be involved in Tin Soldier, Geechee, They Cloned Tyrone, Groove Tails, Day Shift, and God Is a Bullet. It’s unclear how his illness will impact the release of these projects.
