Any NFL (or sports) fan out there knows Patrick Mahomes. He is the charismatic quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs who is not only a hit on the football field, but his State Farm Insurance commercials also crush on television. But for all the positivity surrounding Patrick Mahomes, it is his younger brother Jackson Mahomes that is starting to tarnish the Mahomes name.

It is possible the average NFL fan isn’t even aware that the 2018 National Football League’s Most Valuable Player has a younger brother. Jackson Mahomes is five years junior to his older brother but is trying his best to make his name as well-known as his Super Bowl-winning MVP brother.

The problem, though, is that Jackson is becoming more of a nuisance than anything else.

JACKSON MAHOMES IS 22 YEARS OLD AND THE SON OF A FORMER PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE

Jackson Mahomes was born on May 15, 2000, in Tyler, Texas, where he grew up. His father is Pat Mahomes, a former professional baseball player who pitched for 12 years in the MLB (Major League Baseball) with the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Chicago Cubs. Father Mahomes also pitched in Japan for two seasons with the Yokohama BayStars.

Like his older brother, Jackson Mahomes went to Whitehouse High School where he was actually a good basketball player. It helped that the young Mahomes had some height, measuring in at 6’6”. It pushed him in the direction of basketball, instead of following in his brother’s footsteps playing football and baseball.

He was decent enough of a basketball player to start his entire junior year in high school, though being the younger brother of Patrick Mahomes, who was an absolute stud in high school, probably played against him.

Jackson would always hear the chants from opposing fans, “You’re not Patrick!” Maybe it was the pressure of being the younger brother of Patrick or simply a lack of interest, but young Jackson Mahomes eventually decided that playing sports was not in his cards.

JACKSON MAHOMES STARTED A YOUTUBE CHANNEL IN 2020

While Patrick Mahomes went to Texas Tech to play college football, Jackson Mahomes went to the University of Missouri in Kansas City. There he was a marketing student and graduated in 2022. Two years ago, Jackson decided to post his very first YouTube video where he answered a bunch of questions his TikTok followers had asked, one of them being where he was going to college.

Jackson Mahomes also spoke about what it was like to be the younger brother of Patrick Mahomes. He was asked if he uses his brother’s name for clout. He answered “no” to the question, saying he doesn’t necessarily use the fact that Patrick is his brother to his advantage, but he does get a lot of perks from it with a number of advantages built in. You can see his entire first YouTube video above.

For those who don’t follow Jackson Mahomes on any of his social media channels (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, YouTube) it may not come as a shock that although he has a huge following, quite a few of them are following him simply to bash him.

Most of Jackson Mahomes’ issues are self-made. Controversy has followed him pretty much ever since he got rolling on social media and to date, it has not left him. It has caused the younger Mahomes to take to his own social media to claim in a caption of a selfie, “I hate media/news it’s destroying my life…” Jackson posted a second selfie, saying, “broken/sad/disrespected.”

HIS SEXUAL ORIENTATION HAS BEEN CALLED INTO QUESTION

Jackson Mahomes’ sexual orientation has been highly scrutinized pretty much ever since he became a social media “sensation.” He has even admitted in the past why he doesn’t like to be heard on camera, saying, “I do not like to do on-camera stuff,” he told US Magazine. “All of my stuff typically has music behind it just because I hate my voice. It’s my biggest insecurity.”

The Jackson Mahomes haters immediately love to point out how he talks and because of his voice, they assume he is gay. It has been such an issue for the social media star that he felt he had to address the trolls, telling them, “I am not gay. I am attracted to girls.” It hasn’t only been his sexual orientation that has brought controversy to Jackson Mahomes.

Jackson constantly found himself in hot water during the 2021-22 football season as he often made unwanted headlines by appearing in a number of viral videos with his brother’s wife, Brittany Mathews Mahomes. Just last September, Jackson caught the wrath of many after he was filmed dumping water on Baltimore Ravens fans when they heckled him after his brother’s Chiefs lost to the Ravens.

Not long after that, Jackson Mahomes caused another outrage after he made and posted a TikTok video of himself dancing on the sidelines. While that act doesn’t seem to be too controversial, it was where Jackson filmed himself dancing that was the big deal.

The younger Mahomes filmed himself dancing inside a roped-off section that was honoring the late NFL player Sean Taylor. Brittany Mahomes also caught flack for participating with Jackson.

Although Jackson Mahomes apologized, saying he wasn’t aware the area was roped off for the Sean Taylor tribute, thinking it was an area set for VIPs, he was still ripped for being “disrespectful” with the inability to read the room, so to speak. There is more though. Much more.

One year ago in December 2021, Jackson Mahomes was called out by a bar in Kansas City. They called him both rude and entitled for the way he spoke to the bar’s staff. This came after Jackson had posted a reaction video of the bar, complaining that the service was very poor and those who waited on him were mean.

The bar, though, wasn’t having any of it, taking to their own social media to clap back at Jackson Mahomes. They posted their response on Facebook, saying, “We are sorry that we set boundaries that you tried to ignore. Often times people with unearned status and a sense of entitlement think they are above the rules and will lash out at the employee enforcing them.”

But that wasn’t all. They continued with the ripping of Jackson Mahomes: “We are sorry you didn’t reach out to us first before taking to social media, but then again that is an expectation we would have from a mature and rational person, not someone who pours water on fans and dances on the memorials of tragically lost people for TikTok clout.”

HE AND PATRICK REMAIN TIGHT

You have to give Patrick Mahomes credit. Even though Jackson continues to stir it up on social media (and to a lesser extent, his wife), Patrick remains in his corner. There may be a five-year gap in age and the two may not always see eye-to-eye, but they always have each other’s backs. Oftentimes, fans will see the brothers at events together and there was even one time that Jackson Mahomes appeared in a State Farm commercial with his brother.

Will the brotherly bond ever be truly tested? It has been said that at times, Patrick has been embarrassed by his younger brother’s antics, but so far Jackson Mahomes has not been sat on by his brother. Maybe it is time Patrick speaks up.
