Jack Nicholson’s Friends Afraid For The Actor For A Disturbing Reason
Unnamed sources have claimed that Jack Nicholson is showing signs of dementia and friends are reportedly worried he'll die a recluse.
Jack Nicholson hasn’t made a public appearance in over a year and his friends are starting to worry. Speaking to RadarOnline, an unnamed source said the 85-year-old doesn’t leave his house anymore. “Physically he is fine, but his mind is gone,” the person continued, hinting the three-time Oscar winner is showing symptoms of dementia.
“It’s really sad to see such a super-talented actor go out this way.”
Jack Nicholson is said to be living like a recluse. The father of five was last seen publicly in October 2021. He was spotted with his son Ray at a Los Angeles Lakers game at the Staples Center.
Now, Jack Nicholson spends his days within the walls of his Mulholland Drive mansion in Southern California. He purchased the lavish property from Marlon Brando in 2005. Ironically, The Godfather star died a recluse.
“He’s made it clear his home is his castle. But people just wish he’d come out of the house to tell them he’s ok,” the insider told the publication about Nicholson.
However, Jack Nicholson does keep in touch with his children. “His kids visit. They’re his only connection to the world,” the person explained, adding that The Shining actor doesn’t socialize anymore.
As a result, Jack Nicholson’s friends are worried that he is mirroring the sad last days of Brando. The last movie the 85-year-old starred in was the 2010 romantic comedy How Do You Know, alongside Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson, and Paul Rudd. In 2018, the Hollywood legend seemingly stepped away from the entertainment industry due to memory loss.
“There is a simple reason behind his decision,” a source familiar with Nicholson told RadarOnline. “Jack has memory issues and can no longer remember lines.” But in a rare interview with The Sun (via NZ Herald), Jack Nicholson denied he was retiring.
He also squashed health concerns, saying he had the brain of a mathematician.
Still, Jack Nicholson said he does plan to quit acting at some point. “I’m not going to work until the day I die,” he told the publication. “That’s not why I started this.”
The actor also explained that he doesn’t feel the need to be as career-driven as he once was. “I don’t have to be out there anymore,” he said at the time. “There’s part of me that never really liked being out there.”
Jack Nicholson cited his shift in priorities to getting older. “You get older, you change,” he told The Sun. The actor was known for being a party animal when he was younger. His longest relationship was with actress Anjelica Huston.
At the time, tabloids were filled with stories of his infidelity. The couple, who dated from 1973 to 1990, ultimately broke up when Jack Nicholson fathered a child with Rebecca Broussard.
Despite being in several high-profile relationships, Jack Nicholson has only been married once — to Sandra Knight from 1962 to 1968. Since then, he’s been involved with several actresses including Susan Anspach, Lara Flynn Boyle, and Paz de la Huerta. He was also romantically linked to supermodel Kate Moss in the early 2000s.
