Human Skull Discovered In Thrift Store Halloween Section
Thrift stores are a great place to find Halloween supplies and give your home a spooky decor on even the most skeletal budget. However, one thrift store in Florida was still selling some especially tricky treats this past weekend, including one bit of ghoulish decor that ended up being a little too realistic. According to NBC News, an anthropologist visiting a thrift store in Fort Myers, Florida, discovered a real human skull the shop had left out for display.
The Human Skull Fit Right In At The Halloween Shop
Honestly, the whole thing sounds like the kind of spooky story that you might share around a campfire to give your friends a fright. The idea that countless people have been working and shopping next to the remains of a human body sounds downright unthinkable. But Florida is where the unthinkable is a daily reality, and the state is presumably where the former owner and operator of this human skull lived back when he was flesh and blood.
The Shopowner First Found The Skull Inside A Storage Lot
Before you get your hopes up for a movie adaptation of these strange events, you should know that the story of how the human skull ended up in the thrift store is much more down-to-earth than a typical campfire tale. The owner of this thrift shop, like many similar proprietors, often buys storage units in the hopes of finding and later reselling very valuable items. In this case, the skull was found in a storage lot that the owner purchased many years ago, and it was displayed to create a very spooky ambiance during Halloween.
The Skull Was Thought To Be A Prop
In fact, things arguably got a little bit too spooky for the anthropologist who identified the human skull for what it is. Thanks to their specialized training, the anthropologist was able to discern that this skull was the real deal rather than just a fake imitation. Faced with the unexpected scenario of finding part of a dead body while out shopping, the anthropologist called the local police to investigate the deathly discovery.
No Foul Play Is Suspected
While the entire thing ended about as well as it could, we can’t help but think how the anthropologist found themselves in the middle of their own, short-lived horror movie: without any warning, they were face to face with part of a dead body staring back at them. It’s a plot that would be right at home in an episode of The Walking Dead, and considering this took place in Florida–the nation’s bath salt capital–we wouldn’t be surprised if zombies began storming the beaches any minute now.
Now, if the rest of you can keep the horde busy, we’re going to focus on the really important thing: bidding on some storage units in hopes of finding a human skull of our very own.
