Gillian Anderson is not of this world. Best known for her role as Agent Dana Scully on The X-Files, Anderson was voted the World’s Sexiest Woman by FHM Magazine in 1996. Today, she is still dropping jaws, and the Twitter fan account No Context Gillian Anderson shared one of those simmering moments with a photo of Anderson smoldering in a tight, black, velvet dress.
The photo features Gillian Anderson posed on a mattress, her swept hair cascading across her shoulders. A form-fitting dress complements the actress’s figure as her supermodel stare burns down the barrel of the lens. Anderson admits that she does not understand how she was once voted the World’s Sexiest Woman, but this photo is leaving little doubt for everyone else.
Between eye-popping photo shoots, Gillian Anderson has been hard at work in film and television since The X-Files launched her career into the stratosphere in 1993. She co-starred with David Duchovny during the show’s initial run, which ended in 2002. The FBI duo teamed up for 1998’s The X-Files film and a 2008 follow-up, The X-Files: I Want To Believe, before two truncated X-Files seasons in 2016 and 2018.
Fans of The X-Files are always hungry for more, but as of now, a return of the hit show seems unlikely. Still, Gillian Anderson has plenty of other projects under her belt and many more on the way. She took a recurring role on NBC’s Hannibal, portrayed Margaret Thatcher in Netflix’s The Crown, Eleanor Roosevelt in Showtime’s The First Lady, and is a series regular on Netflix’s Sex Education.
Gillian Anderson has a new movie on the way titled White Bird: A Wonder Story, a sequel to the 2017 film Wonder, which starred Owen Wilson, Julia Roberts, and Jacob Tremblay. The inspirational film, based on a graphic novel by Wonder author R.J. Palacio, also stars Helen Mirren as she recounts to her troubled grandson a story of kindness during Germany’s occupation of France that still ripples through time.
Gillian Anderson has also reportedly been tapped to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an undisclosed role. With an array of big plans unfolding at Marvel, the list of characters Anderson could play is extensive. The impending arrival of the Fantastic Four and the X-Men will open the already vast MCU to deep catalogs of characters, and Anderson could be an excellent fit for a whole host of them.
A reunion between Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, whether in The X-Files or otherwise, is not expected at this time, but Duchovny has a big slate ahead of him. He will appear alongside Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy later this month in the Netflix film You People, and will work with co-star/director Meg Ryan in her rom-com What Happens Later.
Gillian Anderson has been a stunner in the public eye since the early ’90s, and she continues to wow the world with her bold, striking features and confident demeanor.
