Actress Florence Pugh is set to continue in the MCU as Natasha Romanoff’s sister Yelena Belova. Fans will next see the actress in Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling. The film has been getting a lot of attention for the comments from Wilde about why actor Shia LaBeouf departed from the project. The film recently had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. Pugh was at the event sporting a sparkling gauze and short shorts. In the Instagram photos from Film Aesthete, Pugh can be seen posing on the red carpet as photographers and guests take in the actress’s dress. Pugh also was rocking her short blond hair.

In Don’t Worry Darling, Florence Pugh plays Alice Chambers, who’s described as a young, devoted housewife to Harry Style’s Jack Chambers. The full-length trailer for the film was released on July 21st. While at first it appears Jack and Alice are living a wonderful life in California, the tone then switches into something more disturbing. The story centers on the couple’s seemingly ideal life in California, created by Jack’s mysterious employer. When Alice becomes curious about Jack’s work on the secret “Victory Project,” tensions between the two begin to mount, and their seemingly perfect ideal life begins to unravel. Director Olivia Wilde looks to capture the magic she created in her 2019 feature debut Booksmart. In addition to Push and Styles, the film also stars Gemma Chan, Nick Kroll, and former Captain Kirk Chris Pine.

While the film has been getting a lot of buzz, there is still the controversy surrounding Olivia Wilde and Shia LaBeouf. In 2021, LaBeouf was reported to have been fired from the project by Wilde due to poor behavior and having issues with the crew and cast, specifically Florence Pugh. Wilde claimed that LaBeouf’s “process was not conducive” to what she wanted for her productions. However, LaBeouf would refute Wilde’s claims in August 2022, stating that he quit the film despite Wilde’s best efforts to keep him onboard with the project. The actor provided evidence to Variety that supported his claims, including a video of Wilde trying to set things right with him. Additionally, there were rumors of Pugh and Wilde often clashing on set. The Wrap reportedly spoke to a few executives connected to the project who denied to confirm any press plans for Pugh beyond attending the Venice Film Festival.

Florence Pugh has been filming Dune: Part 2 in Budapest and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer before that. According to a source from The Wrap, Pugh flew in for a few days from the set of Dune: Part 2 to participate in the Venice Film Festival and return afterward. A studio exec reportedly knew the actress’s press schedule would be complicated considering her limited availability due to Dune: Part 2 also being a Warner Bros. project. However, this hasn’t rid the speculation of there being possible friction on set between Wilde and Pugh over Wilde’s relationship with Harry styles and the situation with LaBeouf. Fans on social media have been making efforts to find clues about the potential on-set riff between the director and star.

While the film’s recent controversy has taken the focus away from the film itself, Florence Pugh doesn’t appear startled by it. Her rise in Hollywood continues to be one worth paying attention to, and her next projects hopefully will remind everyone of the talent she possesses.
