Fast Food Chain Hot Dogs
When heading to the local fast food chain for lunch or dinner, it can be easy defaulting to the burger options on the menus. After all, that’s what most of these chains are best known for. But don’t skip over the hot dogs at some of these locations. For certain outfits, that’s the best thing on the menu.
Let’s take a look at some of the best hot dog options going on fast food menus these days. This will include a couple that do dogs as their main business driver.
Dairy Queen
While known for its ice cream treats (Blizzards anyone?) and occasional burger, Dairy Queen does have other menu options. One of them is the hot dog which also comes in a chili dog variety as well. These are satisfying additions to the menu and do offer a solid juxtaposition to what DQ is best known for. Plus, the chili dog really ramps things up with the chili and cheese.
Checkers/Rally's
Don’t let the name confuse you with Checkers and Rally’s, these are actually the same outfits it just depends where you are in the country. The hot dog option on the menu isn’t the popular but it’s worth a try next time. They have plain options and the chili dog variety as well. Add some cheese and onions to really turn up the flavor.
Portillo's
Portillo’s serves up Chicago-style fare which is a hot dog on a poppy seed bun with mustard, relish, chopped onions, tomatoes, a pickle spear, and peppers. From this standpoint, Portillo’s hot dogs definitely stand out from the crowd and the flavor goes above and beyond the norm.
Nathan's Famous
When there’s a whole hot dog eating contest in your name, it probably means you are doing something right in this field. That’s the case with Nathan’s Famous who’ve been doing this since 1916. With more than 100 years of hot dogging on the resume, this outfit has a number of locations and also sells the brand in grocery stores as well. They do other food as well (burgers, chicken, heroes) but the hot dogs are where the bun is buttered.
