Euphoria Star Charged With Shoplifting
Chloe Cherry has been charged with misdemeanor retail theft for allegedly shoplifting a $28 blouse.
In news that sounds like it could have come from a plot line on the show, Euphoria star Chloe Cherry recently found herself in trouble with the law. According to TMZ, the actress allegedly shoplifted a $28 blouse from a store in her hometown of Lancaster, Pennsylvania in December, but the details of what actually transpired are still a bit murky.
The story from those who were said to have direct knowledge of the case is that Euphoria’s Chloe Cherry entered a shopping complex on December 27 and went into the dressing room with the blouse in question. She tried it on, but never took it back off as she went back out into the main store area. She reportedly bought several other items with her credit card, but allegedly didn’t pay for the blouse, which she was still wearing when she left.
The police were eventually called and went to speak to the Euphoria actress, who admitted that she took the shirt. According to sources, Chloe Cherry then gave the blouse back to a police officer, but was still charged with misdemeanor retail theft. This is where things get a bit messy.
The Euphoria star’s legal representative said, “In December, there was confusion over a blouse that wasn’t properly charged to my client’s credit card. In no way did [Chloe Cherry] ‘admit’ to taking the blouse, since that was not the case.” He then goes on to accuse the store of “trading on a celebrity’s name” instead of actually having real, solid evidence of wrongdoing.
For those who aren’t familiar with Euphoria’s Chloe Cherry, she is an actress, model, and adult film star who got the role of Faye, a drug dealer’s girlfriend, on the mega-hit HBO series (her first-ever part on television). Cherry nabbed the role thanks to her humorous posts on social media sites like Instagram and TikTok, where she already had millions of followers. In spite of rumors to the contrary, her casting had nothing to do with an X-rated Euphoria porn parody she starred in, in which she played Euphoria’s Jules to Jenna Foxx’s Rue (who is played on the actual show by Zendaya).
Now that she has a recurring role on Euphoria, as well as several modeling gigs, Chloe Cherry has retired from the adult film industry and is focusing on becoming a serious, full-time screen actress.
Chloe Cherry isn’t the only actress to get in trouble with the law over shoplifting, however. As TMZ reminds us, Stranger Things star Winona Ryder allegedly stole a much-more-shocking $5,000 worth of designer goods from a Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills in 2001 and was subsequently charged with four felonies. She was sentenced to three years of probation, 480 hours of community service, and some hefty fines, but after finishing the allotted amount of community service, she was able to get the felony charges reduced to misdemeanors.
That incident put a bit of a damper on Winona Ryder’s career for a while, but it is too soon to tell how or if the stolen $28 blouse will affect the Euphoria actress’ budding career. Chloe Cherry’s alleged crime is already listed as a misdemeanor and not a felony, which is a good sign that it will be taken less seriously in the eyes of the public and the TV industry.
