Emma Roberts Wore A See-Through Bustier To The Oscars
Emma Roberts looks amazing in a custom-made Dolce & Gabbana gown worn for the Oscars.
The Oscars are known for attracting celebrities in audacious outfits, and the 2023 Academy Awards are no different. From How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress Kate Hudson wearing a revealing neon pink gown to Booksmart director Olivia Wilde wearing a toga-like dress to the Vanity Fair afterparty, it seems like conservative outfits are the exception, not the rule. We’re the Millers actress Emma Roberts followed this rule to a T, wearing a see-through bustier that says leaving things to the imagination is for suckers.
Emma Roberts, perhaps best known for appearing in multiple seasons of American Horror Story, wore a lace bustier gown created by the Italian luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana. This gown was part of the fashion house’s Alta Moda line, a line that has the goal of honoring the artisanship seen throughout the history of Italy. Envisioned by designers Brit and Kara Elkin, the gown appears to have been made specifically for Emma Roberts.
Emma Roberts wore this outfit to the Vanity Fair afterparty, though she isn’t the only actress who wore a Dolsa Gabbana Dress to the party. How I Met Your Father star Hillary Duff also wore a dress from the fashion house — one which Brit and Kara Elkin also designed. The trend wasn’t limited to just actresses, either, as Emily in Paris star Lucien Laviscount wore a black velvet waistcoat and matching pants made by the same company.
Emma Roberts wasn’t up for any Academy Awards this year, though 2022 was particularly busy for the actress. She played Sara in the horror film Abandoned, Margot in the rom-com About Fate, and Michelle in another romantic comedy, Maybe I Do.
As far as upcoming projects go, Emma Roberts will be appearing in the 2024 Spider-Man spinoff film Madame Web. The film will center around the titular telepathic oracle, who has previously appeared in Spider-Man comics and cartoons but never before in a live-action film. While the film’s plot details are unknown, Webb is usually depicted as a physically weak, elderly mutant who must be connected to a web-shaped life support device.
Webb will be played by the far-from-elderly Fifty Shades actress Dakota Johnson. Emma Roberts’ character is listed as Mary Parker, presumably the long-lost mother of Peter Parker, whose disappearance led to the future Spider-Man living with his Aunt May and his ill-fated Uncle Ben. Like many details of the upcoming film, it’s unclear what role Mary Parker will play in the movie’s plot.
Besides Madame Webb, Emma Roberts will be appearing in the romantic comedy Second Wife, the action comedy Verona Spies, the thriller Returns, and the comedy Space Cadet. She will also appear in the stop motion film Saurus City, made by the practically unknown studio Motion Foundry. The director, Nathan Smith, has only a few credits to his name, many of which are bible-themed animated videos and TV movies.
