If you thought that Elizabeth Hurley was tapped out of fantastic looks and turning over a new leaf for 2023, you’d be dead wrong. The Austin Powers star took to Instagram to show off a look that rivals the New Year’s Eve ball in glitz and shine. In the post, which you can see below, Hurley’s 2000 movie Bedazzled is the adjective that comes to mind when you feast your eyes on her gem-covered, revealing bodysuit.
In a series of photos, the England-born model and actress shared her New Year’s Eve celebrations with solo shots paired alongside those with friends. The look in question sees Elizabeth Hurley channeling two New York icons: The Statue of Liberty and the Times Square ball that drops at midnight, signifying the beginning of a new year. Hurley got creative with a sheer bodysuit adorned with sequins and gems that reflect the light – making her as eye-catching as the iconic ball.
The outfit is completely see-through, with the flashy bits of decoration creating patterns over her more risque body parts as well as around her neck, where they shape the appearance of a dazzling diamond necklace. On top of her head, Elizabeth Hurley is rocking a tiara-like headpiece that’s reminiscent of The Statue of Liberty’s recognizable crown. In her caption, she wishes her friends, family, and followers a wonderful upcoming year, adding that she’s “hoping everyones [sic.] dreams come true.”
While Elizabeth Hurley refers to 2022 as a “bittersweet” year that was filled with “both extremely happy and deeply sad memories,” the actress had some career news to celebrate with the arrival of Lionsgate’s Christmas in Paradise. In it, she was joined by Kelsey Grammar and Billy Ray Cyrus in a follow-up to 2021’s Father Christmas is Back. The sequel hooked back up with the Christmas family who, after learning that their father James Christmas (Grammar) had been dumped, fly down to the Caribbean to save their dad from heartbreak.
As for Elizabeth Hurley’s next cinematic project, not only is she working on another film in the Father Christmas franchise, but the actress has shown interest in teaming back up with her ex-Bedazzled co-star, Brendan Fraser. After taking a long hiatus from the world of Hollywood, Fraser has recently made a major comeback in Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale. While strutting down the red carpet for The Whale’s New York City premiere, Fraser was approached by Extra about the possibility of joining Hurley on another production.
“The answer is always a yes,” Brendan Fraser said, adding that he loved his time working with Elizabeth Hurley, referring to her as a “funny… talented person with a lot more left in her to offer.” He also mentioned that their connection went beyond that of co-stars, as the duo is also pals offscreen. With The Mummy star’s big comeback currently in the works, we’d love to see him joined by Hurley soon.
