Is Elizabeth Hurley an actual Fembot? That may be the question you ask yourself after seeing the latest Instagram post by the 56-year-old actress, which features the Austin Powers actress lounging in an aqua blue bikini. Whether it’s good genes, clean living, or something else, Hurley hasn’t seemed to age a single day since she played Vanessa Kensington, the spy-turned-robot, opposite Mike Myers in the 1997 comedy classic Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.
The bikini she’s wearing appears to be the same one featured in a previous Instagram post, which she shared with her 2.3 million followers to much approval. The British actress had been living it up in the Caribbean while she filmed the movie Christmas in the Caribbean, so it is likely this is a picture from some months ago and not one taken in recent days. Her caption also indicates that it was taken late last year when she was making the movie. “Filming on a sunny island has its pros #newmovie,” she said.
Christmas in the Caribbean is a romantic comedy in which Elizabeth Hurley plays Rachel, a woman who gets dumped at the altar at the last minute and decides to go on her honeymoon trip to the Caribbean anyway. She takes her two best friends Amanda and Rebecca along with her, but the trip takes an unexpected turn when she falls in love with a local restaurateur and widower named Allesandro (Edoardo Costa). Rachel then must decide whether to go back home to England or stay on the island with Allesandro. Nathalie Cox (Clash of the Titans), former MTV veejay Downtown Julie Brown, and Caroline Quentin (Doc Martin) also star. A release date has not been announced, but don’t be surprised if it gets picked up by Lifetime for their popular run of Christmas movies later this year. The movie seems right up their alley.
Caribbean vacation aside, it’s been a difficult few months for Elizabeth Hurley. In March, her former fiancé, legendary Australian cricketer Shane Warne, died unexpectedly at a resort in Thailand due to a heart attack. She had been engaged to Warne from 2011 to December of 2013 when the wedding was called off. Still, she remained close to Warne and his daughters, and travel restrictions kept her from attending his funeral. She posted a message on Instagram saying she was heartbroken that she couldn’t get to Australia for the funeral. She shared pictures from a trip that the two took to Sri Lanka as part of her tribute to him. “These pictures were taken in Sri Lanka to celebrate our engagement- we had all our children with us and it was the happiest time,” she wrote. “It still hasn’t really sunk in that he’s gone. It seems too cruel that all the people who loved him will never have another Lion hug, but our memories will live forever. RIP Lionheart.”
Earlier this month, Elizabeth Hurley learned that her friend, French photographer Patrick Demarchelier, had died at the age of 78. He was the official portraitist for Diana, Princess of Wales, and the first non-British citizen to be named a royal photographer. His work in Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar is considered legendary, and he collaborated with Hurley on many fashion shoots. “I shot so many covers, advertising campaigns, and movie posters with you. You were a dream to work with and you will be so missed,” she wrote on Instagram.
Hurley was most recently seen in the E! series The Royals, as well as Hulu’s Marvel series The Runaways. She will next be seen in the movie Welcome to Georgia, due to release this year. She will star with Taran Killam (Saturday Night Live) and Hannah Simone (New Girl). Her previous credits include Bedazzled and Gossip Girl, in addition to the Austin Powers films.
