Just when you thought Eiza Gonzalez couldn’t make your jaw drop any lower, the Godzilla vs Kong actress is breaking the internet again – by going blonde. The 32-year-old actress just posted on Instagram, sporting a new look that includes a black slinky dress and blonde hair. Gonzalez is active on the social media platform, much to the delight of her 7.5 million followers, who constantly respond to her selfies with messages of love and support.
Posted with the caption “Blond ambition,” Eiza Gonzalez sported the new look in a classic black dress. She is currently in the midst of a press tour for her latest film Ambulance, and the pictures she has been posting show her hair going from black to blonde literally overnight. She didn’t say why she went blonde, or if it was for an upcoming role. The new look received high praise from her followers, which is common for anything she posts on Instagram. A picture she posted last August, in which she posed in a bikini on a beach while a rainbow arched overhead, received over half a million likes.
The picture is a bold proclamation, and maybe a reminder to movie fans of what they could have had. Multiple reports detailed how Eiza Gonzalez auditioned for the role of Selina Kyle/Catwoman in The Batman, the newest cinematic incarnation of the DC superhero starring Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader. In an interview, Gonzalez called losing the role to Zoe Kravitz “heartbreaking.” She was one of the finalists for the role, and losing the part after auditions and screen tests hit her hard. “You’re living and dreaming the character. It is heartbreaking; it is always hard. You have to envision yourself in the role in order to see the role. You can’t have one foot in and one foot out.”
Born in Mexico City on January 30, 1990, Eiza González Reyna is the daughter of Glenda Reyna, a former Mexican model. Her father, Carlos González, died when she was just 12 in a tragic motorcycle accident. At the age of 13, she joined the M & M Studio acting school under the instruction of actress Patricia Reyes Spíndola (Fear the Walking Dead, Frida).
After starring in a Mexican telenovela, Eiza Gonzalez and her mother came to the United States, where she quickly signed on as a model with Avon. She even released a Spanish-language album and took several roles in television before getting her first movie role in 2014’s Almost Thirty. She then took on several roles in American film and television, including 2015’s Jem and the Holograms and the horror television series From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, where she played Santanico Pandemonium, the vampire temptress played by Salma Hayek in the original 1996 film.
She hit superstardom by appearing in Edgar Wright’s 2017 smash Baby Driver, where she played the role of Darling alongside Ansel Elgort (West Side Story). Eiza Gonzalez continued to wow audiences with roles in Welcome to Marwen with Steve Carell, Alita: Battle Angel, Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw, and Michael Bay’s latest action film Ambulance. She is currently in talks to star in The Three-Body Problem, a Netflix show from the team behind Game of Thrones.
When she’s not on Instagram, Eiza Gonzalez is spending time with her boyfriend Paul Rabil, a professional lacrosse player. She made their relationship public last July in an Instagram Stories post, proclaiming her love for him. In the past, the actress has publicly dated Josh Duhamel and Timothée Chalamet.
