Disney Is Bringing Back Its Best Parade
With the holiday season fast approaching and theme park attendees seemingly being thrust into December events throughout the country, Disney might have the cure for the holiday blues with an addition to their theme park early next year. Yesterday, Disney Parks dropped a note to Twitter signaling the return of the Disneyland Magic Happens parade, often regarded by many Disneyland frequent visitors as the best parade the theme park ever offered its guests. The Magic Happens parade had a limited run in 2020, but it appears to be back in full force beginning on February 24, 2023.
The Disneyland Magic Happens parade bills itself as an “unforgettable spectacle that celebrates magical moments from favorite Disney stories,” typically depicting a wide arrangement of characters and scenes from famous Disney content. The return of the Magic Happens parade to the Anaheim, California theme park has been in the news for quite some time this year, as the announcement was first made at the D23 Expo in September, according to a report by Blog Mickey. The parade initially debuted in the early part of 2020 but was closed indefinitely due to all of Disney’s theme parks shutting down during the COVID-19 pandemic.
ComicBook.com reports that the Disneyland Magic Happens parade will be joining two other nighttime shows at the theme park, the Wondrous Journeys fireworks show that takes place high above Disneyland Park, as well as the World of Color – One, which is featured at Disney California Adventure Park. Both these two shows include a lot of characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios projects. However, the Magic Happens parade looks to be shaping up to be even grander in scale than all the other shows at Disneyland, largely due to the attention to detail that Disney is giving to the production.
Singer and songwriter Todrick Hall, known for his appearance recently on CBS’ Celebrity Big Brother, will be composing an original theme song for Disneyland’s Magic Happens parade, which will also feature nine floats specifically designed for the parade. The Magic Happens parade is notable for its depiction of classic Disney characters, including highlights from movies like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Moana, The Princess and the Frog, The Sword in the Stone, and even the Pixar favorite, Coco. If that wasn’t enough, the parade’s major highlight is the ultimate Disney character of Mickey Mouse, fitted with a sorcerer look straight from the 1940 film, Fantasia.
A lot of the major changes to Disney’s lineup of parades, which includes Disneyland’s Magic Happens parade, are to highlight the upcoming Disney 100-year Celebration going on within the company. Disney was initially formed by animator and entrepreneur Walt Disney and his brother Roy as the Disney Brothers Studio in the early 1920s, and the company quickly gained a reputation for high-quality animation. The character of Mickey Mouse was developed in 1928 and became extremely popular for the small animation studio, ultimately becoming a staple of an organization that would one day revolutionize animation techniques and take over the world as one of the largest studios in movie history.
