After getting sued for sexual assault, rape, sex trafficking, and more, it’s fair to say that Diddy is one of the most canceled singers in musical history. Now, it looks like things are getting even worse for the beleaguered musician because he is facing horrific new accusations. Former bandmate Dawn Richard is now suing Diddy, claiming that she was sexually abused and terrorized by the singer and that she personally witnessed him beating his ex, Cassie Ventura.

The New Allegations

The allegations involved in this new lawsuit stretch all the way back to 2004. This was when Richard participated in Diddy’s reality show Making the Band. She alleges that he offered to take her career to the next level but only if she met a series of his personal demands.

She further alleges that Diddy was highly misogynistic on set, calling the show’s female contestants “b*ches,” “fat,” “hoes,” and “ugly.” Richard claims that she was a particular target for the musician’s disdain because she was young and very openly eager to work with someone so famous.

The former bandmate allegedly saw Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Kim Porter leave the studio crying and apparently beaten, leading Richard to believe that her own life could be in danger.

Alleged Threats

On the topic of exes, Richard’s lawsuit alleges that she saw Diddy violently throw Cassie Ventura against a wall while very high in 2009, after which she claims he choked her and dragged her up a flight of stairs.

Other allegations include throwing scalding eggs at Ventura while insulting her and outright punching the woman before attempting to strangle her.

According to Richard, she and others encouraged Ventura to leave Diddy out of concern for her safety. The singer allegedly heard about this and threatened the lives of those involved: “you could be missing … you b*ches want to die today.”

Afterward, Richard alleges that Diddy began abusing her as well, which included forcing her to rehearse for a full 48 hours without sleep and inviting her to his house where he was only wearing underwear and refused to put on more clothing.

Years Of Alleged Abuse

Between 2009 and 2011, Richard alleges that Diddy came into her dressing room and inappropriately touched her body. Perhaps most frighteningly, she alleges that he once locked her in a car with extremely tinted windows while she screamed out for help.

She claims that she eventually called her dad, and when he confronted Diddy afterward, the music mogul allegedly issued implied threats, saying, “think about your daughter” and “think about your daughter’s career.”

Diddy’s Response

Recently, Diddy’s lawyer Erica Wolff issued a statement on the matter claiming that Richard is attempting “to rewrite history” with her account of these events. She claims all of this is Richard’s attempt “to get a pay day” and hype up her own upcoming album and tour.

Wolff also says that if Richard had such an awful time with Diddy, she likely wouldn’t have continued to work with him as recently as 2023’s The Love Album.

Diddy Is Done

These are challenging times for many musicians, with even seemingly squeaky-clean artists like Katy Perry getting sued for things like filming a music video in the Balearic Islands without permission. However, no modern artist has faced the sheer amount of scandalous lawsuits as Diddy, all of which have led to this iconic musician’s cultural cancellation.

Only time will tell if he manages to shrug off these latest allegations or if the most recent suit will help make his temporary industry obscurity into something more permanent.
