Diddy Cartel Lawsuit Alleges Damages To Drug Business

By Chris Snellgrove | Published

Right now, it seems like everyone is suing Diddy…after all, his high-profile arrest has led to an increasing number of new allegations and accusers. However, the beleaguered singer’s latest accuser may be the most shocking one of all. Back in August, Diddy was sued by the imprisoned leader of the Sinaloa drug cartel for $660,000 in alleged damages.

Sued By A Drug Cartel?

Why the heck is Diddy being sued by the leader of a drug cartel, especially one who is already in jail?

Alfredo P. Gonzalez alleges that Diddy and his company Bad Boy Entertainment effectively destroyed the cartel leader’s New York operation after Gonzalez refused to help traffic minors for the singer.

Now, he wants damages, and his claims continue to chip away at Diddy’s reputation as a well-respected industry legend.

Diddy’s Power In New York

Diddy alleges Gonzalez was angry at the cartel leader’s refusal to facilitate sex trafficking and threatened him, claiming that the man’s life would soon become a “living hell.”

He believes that the singer could easily do so via the sheer amount of power he wields in New York. That may sound fantastic, but it tracks with what a recent insider told People: Many celebrities are still terrified of Diddy, believing him a threat even though he is now behind bars.

Suing For An Illegal Business

How do these latest allegations about Diddy add up to a local drug cartel going out of business? Gonzalez claims that the singer is responsible for losing a number of important contacts necessary to keep his illicit business running. That led to a major decline in profits, and he thinks that the singer should have to pay him $660,000.

However, there’s good news for Diddy: this lawsuit from a former cartel leader is officially one less thing that he has to worry about.

Initially, Gonzalez filed the suit in the Southern District of New York, and he likely hoped for the case to go very far. But Chief U.S. District Judge Laura Taylor Swain immediately dashed those hopes, dismissing the case on August 12.

No Legal Standing

Swain wasn’t exactly trying to give Diddy a break, so why did she immediately kill the cartel leader’s lawsuit? First and foremost, she maintained that Gonzalez had no legal standing to sue someone over illegal activities. Adding insult to injury, the court also declared that the lawsuit was completely frivolous, meaning that Gonzalez didn’t have much of a legal leg to stand on.

That led to the final nail in the coffin for this Diddy lawsuit: the cartel leader will not be able to amend his lawsuit. Normally, an amendment would give someone a chance to straighten out a few things before pursuing their day in court a second time. But Swain decided that there wasn’t enough substance to this suit for any amendment to fix.

Only A Minor Victory For Diddy

Sadly for Diddy, this particular legal victory was a minor one…he may not have to worry about getting sued by a drug cartel, but he is currently facing a number of other lawsuits.

Even before he goes to court, his legal drama may take other celebs down, especially with the news that someone is trying to sell a porn tape recorded in the singer’s home featuring someone even more high-profile than Diddy himself.

One thing’s for sure: before all of this is said and done, we will never look at some of our favorite celebrities again.
