If the apocalypse ever happens, everyone will no doubt be raiding the Costcos to get everything they could possibly need in bulk. Perhaps in an effort to reduce check-out lines at the beginning of the apocalypse, Costco is preparing by selling new emergency buckets that include 150 servings of freeze-dried food with a shelf life of up to 25 years. Dubbed the Readywise Emergency Food Supply bucket, this doomsday prepper dream item gives you a whopping total of 25,280 calories to keep you full and fed while the zombies are eating the brains of non-Costco members.

Ready Made For The Apocalypse

The Costco apocalypse buckets also come fully stocked with all of the food groups, with (allegedly) tasty servings of pasta alfredo, macaroni, teriyaki rice, whey milk, tomato basil soup with pasta, and much more. Of course, there are some sweet treats in there, too, like orange drink and vanilla pudding, because there’s got to be some joy in the apocalypse, right?

Billed on the website as giving you “readiness in the face of uncertainty,” the product listing for the bucket gives more realistic scenarios like severe weather, foot shortages, and unexpected job changes, but it doesn’t say that it’s not for the apocalypse.

Just Add Water

In addition to the Costo buckets having a super long shelf life of 25 years, you can also take solace in the fact that the bucket offers plenty of convenience when it comes to preparing the food. Since everything is freeze-dried, you simply have to add water to enjoy your tasting serving of pasta, orange drink, or whatever you’re in the mood for. Of course, that means you’ll probably want to have plenty of water stocked up, too, but if you’re buying the doomsday bucket, then you’ve obviously already thought of that little detail.

Affordable Survivial

Realistically, the Costco apocalypse buckets do seem pretty handy for those times when everyone is rushing to the grocery store before a big storm. While freeze-dried food doesn’t always taste the best, it’s certainly better (and more nutritious) than nothing. It seems to be relatively recently priced too, with an online listing of $79.99 for Costco members.

Over A Hundred Servings

Whether that’s a good price for 150 servings of freeze-dried foods or not is something a more knowledgeable expert would have to analyze, but it appears to be a good deal. There’s also always the chance that the Costco apocalypse buckets cost less in person at your local Costco store. Of course, if you want to be super, extra prepared for anything that comes your way, Costco also lets you buy the bulk product in bulk, as Costco does.

Prepare For The Last Of Us

Apparently, you can grab a whole pallet of the Costco apocalypse buckets for $2,500. If you’re willing to throw down a couple of grand for some freeze-dried food buckets, you’ll get 36 of them containing a total of 5,400 servings and over 910,000 calories. This means you’ll either be extra prepared for the apocalypse, or your house will basically be the ultimate resource collection spot in a The Last of Us style video game.
