This fantastic photo of Christina Hendricks is worth taking a look at. Hendricks, who is best known for playing Joan Harris in Mad Men but also played Saffron in Firefly and voiced Cherie in Solar Opposites, recently shared a photo of herself in a white dress with a yellow and pink rose pattern, her full red hair shining in the studio lights.

The photo, it seems, comes from Christina Hendricks’ early years as a fashion model, which started in 1994 and lasted until she moved into acting with her appearance in several commercials, and then the MTV anthology series Undressed. It’s difficult to pinpoint exactly when the photo was taken, but it was definitely part of a larger modeling set, since photos of her wearing the same dress in different poses can be found around the web.

According to Christina Hendricks, the photo is a flashback of something she wore while modeling for punk and new wave fashion designer Vivienne Westwood. Westwood, whose clothing dominated the UK punk scene in the 1970s, was appointed as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for her services to fashion design. She was also awarded a Fellowship at King’s College London and received an honorary degree of Doctor of Letters from Heriot-Watt university.

Christina Hendricks posted this photo of herself less than a month before Westwood passed in Clapham, London. The 81-year-old fashion icon spent the last years of her life vocally protesting the arms trade, consumerism’s effect on the environment, and the imprisonment of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. On her 80th birthday, she broadcasted a video at Picadilly Circus calling for fair distribution of wealth, an end to war, and an end to climate change.

Christina Hendricks also posted an Instagram photo of herself alongside Westwood on the day of Hendricks’ death, paying tribute to the late fashion icon. According to Hendricks, she loved Westwood’s “I don’t give a f*ck-ness” and her dedication to making the world a better place. She credits Westwood’s unique designs and contributions to the fashion world as the only reason that she has any interest in fashion at all.

It was not only Christina Hendricks who gave tribute to Westwood on the day of her death. Singer Paul McCartney posted a photo of himself with Westwood, admiring how she rocked the world of fashion and stood up for what was right. Multimedia artist Yoko Ono similarly posted a photo of herself alongside Westwood, giving out condolences to Westwood’s family. Other celebrities who honored Hendricks include Death Proof and Planet Terror actress Rose McGowan, Game of Thrones star Lena Headey, Rock singer and Natural Born Killers actress Juliette Lewis, Halloween star Jamie Lee Curtis, and singer Boy George.

Christina Hendricks most recently appeared in the 2022 adaptation of the novel The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry, playing the role of Ismay Evans. Her next project will be playing the role of Mrs. St. George in an upcoming episode of the TV Series The Buccaneers, which is set in 1870s London and is based on a novel of the same name.
