Bruce Willis Diagnosed With Awful Debilitating Disease
Bruce Willis has officially been diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia.
It has been quite some time since we last heard about what is happening personally with Bruce Willis. Well, Bruce’s family has updated the world about his current medical condition, and the news is certainly not good. Bruce was initially diagnosed with Aphasia, which led to his retirement from acting, but a clearer diagnosis has now updated the actor to have Frontotemporal Dementia (FTP).
Bruce Willis’s wife, Emma Willis, updated the world via her personal Instagram page, where she revealed the horrible diagnosis. We did know that Bruce had trouble communicating and remembering things, per the symptoms of Aphasia, but this FTP diagnosis has now made things far clearer. Emma stated that issues with communication are one of the biggest symptoms of FTP, though the family is happy to have a clearer idea about what Bruce is currently going through.
Per the Mayo Clinic, Frontotemporal Dementia is “an umbrella term for a group of brain disorders that primarily affect the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain.” The areas of the brain that are affected mostly by this type of dementia are personality, behavior, and language. Now it makes more sense why it had been reported that Bruce Willis was having trouble with remembering lines and speaking them.
While the family is certainly more relieved to have a better idea about what Bruce Willis is suffering from, it likely does not make this diagnosis any easier, but we hope there can be some sort of solace found from this information. Advances in medicine and technology have surely come a long way, but there is no cure currently for dementia. We just hope that Bruce remains happy in his current state.
Though Bruce Willis had to step away from acting, the man leaves behind a legacy that covers a wide array of amazing movies and shows in history. From the Die Hard franchise to Armageddon and The Fifth Element, Willis has been a fan-favorite for decades. He more recently had been engaging in more underground films. One of his most recent is Paradise City, which saw him pair with John Travolta, in an action-packed thriller that follows Ian Swan, as he fights his way through the Hawaii criminal underground to avenge his father’s death.
Bruce Willis also stars in Detective Knight: Independence, which is the final film in the James Knight trilogy. Detective Knight: Redemption and Detective Knight: Rogue precede Independence. Everyone has been super critical of the movies that Willis has been starring in lately, but it could have been his attempts to stay in the acting world for as long as possible, knowing that he was on borrowed time.
The final movie that Bruce Willis will be starring in is called Assassin and will be released on March 31, 2023. If this is truly the final Willis performance, it will cap off a huge resume that includes 145 acting credits. We truly wish Bruce Willis and his family all the best, and we hope that the man can recover somehow from this disease.
