Britney Spears Trashes Music Industry And Slams New Rumors
Borrowing a sentiment shared in Lindsay Lohan’s 2004 song, “Rumors,” Britney Spears has a message for those pressuring her to return to the music industry – it ain’t gonna happen. Taking to Instagram to refute claims from a Page Six report that stated the pop princess was going to return for the crown, Spears wrote a lengthy caption (that has since been taken down) below an image of the Italian Renaissance painting, “Salome Bearing the Head of St. John the Baptist.” As part of her statement, Spears delivered a hefty and bold sentence saying, “I will never return to the music industry.”
Britney Spears Claims She Is Done With The Music Industry
This is a huge piece of news for those fans eagerly awaiting Britney Spears to make her return to the industry after breaking free from her crippling conservatorship. For some background, Page Six shared a rumor-based report earlier this week that insinuated that Spears would be teaming up with Charli XCX and songwriter Julia Michaels for a new record. If this had happened, it would’ve been Spears’s first album in almost 10 years.
Ghostwriting Songs
Fuming about the outlet’s factless reporting, Britney Spears turned to social media to get the word out that there was no way that she’d be jumping back into the business – at least not in the way that Page Six speculated. Instead, she said that these days she writes music “for fun” or “for other people.”
Mentioning that those who’ve read her book will already know this, Spears went on to reveal that she’s “a ghostwriter” and has been busy drumming up songs for other musicians – somewhere along the lines of “over 20 songs” over the last few years.
For those who may not know, a ghostwriter is someone who pens a book, song, or other piece of writing but doesn’t have their name included in the credits. Because Britney Spears has kept a low profile over the past several years, the performer may have been putting in the hours as a ghostwriter for others in the business although she still hasn’t shared or hinted at which projects these may have included.
Britney Spears Released From Conservatorship
The past two years of ghostwriting come following Britney Spears’s emancipation from her conservatorship which she was in from 2008 to 2021. For those 13 years, the pop singer’s every move was meticulously planned by her father, who served as her legal guardian. After being freed, fans were hoping that she would return to the stage bigger and better than ever but, at the end of the day, all that Spears seems to want is a quiet life filled with family time.
Britney Has A Strong Support System
She even says so much in her Instagram post, where she wrote, “I’m so LOVED and blessed!!!” alluding to her tight-knit support system who have been with her every step of the way. And, Britney Spears can certainly use all of the extra care right now as she is in the middle of a divorce with her spouse, Sam Ashgari. Meanwhile, her two children, Sean Preston and Jayden James, seem to have a distant relationship with their mother, although they were recently spotted with their father, Kevin Federline.
The Memoir And Justin Timberlake
After dropping her bombshell memoir, The Woman in Me, in 2023, fans received a deeper look into Britney Spears’s life including her tumultuous relationship with fellow pop star Justin Timberlake and her years stuck under the conservatorship. And, while she has no plans to return to the stage any time soon, that same dedicated fandom will be with her through thick and thin, cheering her on in any career path she chooses.
