Britney Spears Says She’s Not In Trouble, Just Making Lasagna
Britney Spears took to Instagram to quell the rumors that she was going to die from substance abuse issues.
After viral reports that substance abuse threatened the life of pop star Britney Spears, the “Baby One More Time” singer said enough is enough. An active Instagram participant, Spears posted on the platform Thursday, February 9 to dispel rumors of her death and beg fans to end inappropriate speculation. Spears assured fans she is fine, and she is at home making her first homemade lasagna.
The latest drama around Britney Spears came with reports that her husband, Sam Ashgari, and her manager teamed with doctors to stage an intervention for Spears. The concerned cohort believed the singer had been self-medicating with stimulants that aren’t the right solution to her ailments. The intervention did not manifest, but reports say Spears had a productive conversation with a doctor about the issue.
The planned intervention crumbled after Spears became suspicious of the event. She was to be led to a rental house in Los Angeles where she would stay for a couple of months while she worked through her substance dependence with doctors. Britney Spears’ two sons, Sean and Jayden, and her father, Jamie Spears, were reportedly not involved in the plan.
Ravenous fans and media have always feasted on Britney’s drama, but the latest encroachment on her personal life crossed a line. “It makes me sick to my stomach that it’s even legal for people to make up stories that I almost died… I mean at some point enough is enough,” Spears wrote in her appeal to fans.
This is not the first time Britney Spears has reprimanded her overzealous followers. She recently made a similar statement after fans, concerned by Spears’ cryptic Instagram activity, called in a welfare check on the celebrity. Ashgari also responded to the latest buzz around his wife’s condition, telling Access Hollywood that speculation about Spears’ health was “inappropriate and should end immediately.”
While fans’ concern over Britney Spears does breach the star’s privacy, it is not unfounded. The star was allegedly spotted at an LA restaurant speaking gibberish in a manic episode just a few weeks ago. Spears did not reference that incident but assured fans that the breakdowns that characterized her past do not define her present.
“No folks, it’s not 2007… it’s 2023 and I’m making my first homemade lasagna at home…As my hubby says it best: don’t believe everything you read…All that love right back at ya!!!” The chef in the works, as her Instagram bio states, has been active on Instagram as she celebrates her freedom from a restrictive conservatorship that ended in late 2021. Cooking, dancing, and posting scandalous photos have been the latest habits for Britney Spears on social media.
“I’m probably going to have to stop posting on Instagram because even though I enjoy doing it, there’s obviously a lot of people who don’t wish me well,” she wrote. Britney Spears’ time on Instagram has drawn considerable controversy and concern. A departure from the platform may give Spears some much-needed distance from the public eye.
The same fanbase that so valiantly lobbied to free Britney from her conservatorship may have overstepped in its latest involvements in the pop star’s life. As Britney Spears attempts to adjust to a normal life after spending most of it in an often unflattering limelight, the shadow of her tumultuous past continues to loom over her progress.
Britney Spears’ celebrity status is largely responsible for her mental health struggles, but the star is tired of being defined by those struggles. Time will tell if her appeals to fans will produce her desired result, or if time away from social media will be the key to putting the rabid rumors to rest.
