See Brie Larson Pretending To Be A Powerpuff Girl
Brie Larson, and one of her friends, goof off backstage in a Powerpuff Girls inspired pose.
If they ever decide to make a big-budget Powerpuff Girls movie, Brie Larson should be their first call. Larson posted on Instagram, with content creator and creative director @jazzyeditorial, posing in monochrome sweatsuits to mimic the colors of Bubbles and Blossom. As Larson says, now they just need someone with a green sweatsuit to complete the trio with Buttercup.
While Brie Larson isn’t involved, there actually is a live-action Powerpuff Girls show in development over at the CW, but it’s been facing some script troubles and cast changes. The show was originally going to star Chloe Bennet, Dove Cameron, and Yana Perrault as Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup but Bennet had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. Also, the script leaked on social media, and people hated it, so now it’s in a bit of development limbo while they work on a new script.
Brie Larson would probably be too busy to get involved in a Powerpuff Girls movie anyway, so some light cosplay is going to be as close as we get. Instead, we can see Larson play a different super-powered individual when she returns to her role as Captain Marvel in The Marvels. Carol Danvers may not be made out of sugar, spice, and everything nice like Bubbles, but she’s still a badass.
The Marvels will be coming out on July 28, 2023, as part of Disney’s Phase Five lineup of films. The movie will star Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel along with Iman Vellani as Khamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau. Other cast members include Samuel L. Jackson, Saagar Shaikh, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Zawe Ashton, and Park Seo-joon.
The Marvels will follow Carol, Khamal, and Monica as they begin swapping places every time they use their powers. Although we’ve seen Brie Larson reprise the role several times, most notably in Avengers: Endgame, this will be her first solo Captain Marvel film since the 2019 debut of the character. With many of the other major heroes like Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America leaving the MCU, it seems likely that Carol will be taking on a bigger leadership role for the Avengers in films like Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
While Brie Larson isn’t busy being one of the MCU’s strongest heroes, she’ll be joining another major franchise with the upcoming Fast X. Fast X will be the first of a two-part film finale for the Fast & Furious franchise. Along with Larson, the film will also bring new characters played by Jason Momoa, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, and Rita Moreno.
Fast X also has many returning cast members including Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, John Cena, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Scott Eastwood, Michael Rooker, Cardi B, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron. Fast X is set for a May 19, 2023, release date, meaning we’ll get to see it before Brie Larson’s MCU return. While we wait for Fast X and The Marvels to finally hit theaters, you can see her in the recently released AR short film Remembering on Disney+.
