An Academy Award-winning actress in her own right, Brie Larson is finding herself in one of the most prestigious groups in the film industry as she’s serving the Cannes Film Festival as one of the judges for the Palme d’Or. Showing up beside her co-judges, Paul Dano (The Batman) and Ruben Ostlund (Triangle of Sadness), the actress dressed for the occasion in a dazzling black dress that she took to Instagram to share with her fans. In the lineup of images, which you can see below, Larson shows off her opening ceremony gown as she kicks off the yearly festival alongside some of the biggest names in the biz.
It should come as a shock to no one that Brie Larson understood the assignment and blew the cameras away with her latest glamorous red carpet look. A light and airy black dress perfectly falls over The Marvels star while a gathering of long gold necklaces adds some color to the piece. In her right hand, Larson tightly wraps the chain from a Chanel bag around her hand.
Already off to a bang, Brie Larson has found herself fielding more than inappropriate questions from journalists at the film festival; inappropriate because they are clearly not being tossed at her male counterparts. As many now know, Johnny Depp made his on-screen comeback in Maïwenn’s period drama Jeanne Du Barry, something that one reporter was eager to ask Larson about.
In a cringy moment you can see above (around the one-minute mark), Brie Larson looks shocked and off-put when the question is hurled at her, unsure of why she is the one being asked. Like a champ, Larson easily fields the quandary, while also throwing shade at the journalist. According to the reporter, they specifically asked Larson because of Depp’s ongoing court battle with his ex, Amber Heard, which revolves around emotional and physical abuse.
Aside from her work serving as a judge at Cannes, Brie Larson has a ton of great things to look forward to. Audiences are preparing to kick things into high gear tomorrow, May 19, when Fast X speeds into their local cinema. Her first time in the franchise, Brie Larson joins fellow newcomers like Jason Momoa and Rita Moreno along with long-running franchise stars including Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, John Cena, and Ludacris in the latest installment of the high-octane action flicks.
Beyond Fast X, this year will also see Brie Larson return to her fan-favorite role of Captain Marvel in the MCU’s feature, The Marvels, which is due out this November. On the small screen, she’ll appear in Apple TV+’s drama Lessons in Chemistry and you can hear her voice in the unexpected yet overly delightful animated return of Scott Pilgrim: The Anime.
