Brad Pitt Lawyers Counterattack Angelina Jolie Horrific Allegations
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie got divorced in 2016, but their dispute is far from over. In the ongoing legal saga that’s so far lasted eight years, Pitt’s legal team has fired back at Jolie’s recent allegations of abuse, labeling them as “misdirection and distraction.” The dispute centers around their French winery, Château Miraval, with both parties engaging in a contentious battle over ownership and contractual agreements.
Almost A Decade In Court
The latest development emerged when Brad Pitt’s lawyers filed a motion in court on April 5, demanding that Angelina Jolie produce nondisclosure agreements (NDAs), which she has reportedly made others sign. This move was prompted by Jolie’s own filing a day prior, in which her legal team sought to release communications allegedly proving that Pitt imposed restrictive NDAs as a condition for her selling her share of the winery.
Brad Pitt’s legal representatives argue that the NDAs he requested were no more restrictive than the ones routinely utilized by Angelina Jolie herself. They claim that within six months of Jolie selling her Miraval shares, her attorney suggested an even more comprehensive, mutually agreed non-disparagement clause to Pitt during their divorce proceedings, hinting at a contradiction in her objections.
Dueling NDAs
According to court documents, Brad Pitt’s lawyers aim to demonstrate that Angelina Jolie’s objections to the NDAs are unfounded, pointing out potential instances where she may have imposed similar confidentiality agreements in her own dealings. They assert that the focus should be on the contractual agreements between the former couple regarding the winery and family home, not on past disputes.
However, Angelina Jolie’s legal team remains steadfast in their stance, with attorney Paul Murphy issuing a statement condemning Brad Pitt’s comparison of common NDAs to an alleged attempt to cover up a history of abuse. Murphy described Pitt’s actions as “shameful,” emphasizing Jolie’s desire for separation and peace after years of turmoil.
Court Hearing Will Re-Ignite The Battle Of The Exes
The dispute over NDAs has been a recurring theme in the couple’s legal battles. Last year, both parties clashed over the non-disparagement clause, with Brad Pitt’s camp deeming it a standard business transaction while Angelina Jolie’s sources alleged coercion regarding abuse silence.
The tension between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is set to escalate further. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for May 16, promising further revelations and legal maneuvers in their protracted legal battle over Château Miraval and other assets.
One Decade Together, One Decade Feuding
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt met on the set of Mr. And Mrs. Smith in 2004. At the time, Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston, and Jolie was a single mother to her adopted son, Maddox. The couple got together in 2004 (Pitt and Aniston divorced in 2005) and then got married in 2014.
“We got married with our (six) children and they were part of the ceremony,” Angelina Jolie recalled about her wedding to Brad Pitt. “It was all of us agreeing to be together and to just commit to this life together. Not because we had to … because we were absolutely sure we felt that much of a family.”
The marriage lasted only two years, with Angelina Jolie filing for divorce from Brad Pitt in 2016, citing irreconcilable differences.
