Brad Pitt Dealt Massive Blow In Angelina Jolie Lawsuit
The case between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie continues to rage on nearly a decade since the latter filed for divorce against the former. The pair have been in and out of the courtroom a handful of times and their latest case hasn’t been about their romantic relationship but has been instead about their wine business. And, although it may have initially appeared as though Pitt came out on top during the latest hearing on March 13, a source close to the case said that the actor actually lost big time with the judge dismissing five of Pitt’s seven claims against his ex-wife.
The Ex-Couple Bought A Winery Together
To better understand what this all means and how we got here, let’s dip back in time to 2008 when Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie decided to pursue business ownership together by purchasing the Château Miraval property and winemaking. The pair, then in the honeymoon stage of their relationship, went in as 50-50 partners on the new project. Fast forward to 2021 and the now divorced couple held nothing but contempt for one another with Jolie deciding it was time to cut all ties with Pitt, including that of the winery.
Pitt Sued His Ex For Selling Her Shares
Angelina Jolie would sell her share in 2021 to Nouvel, a company in control of her shares in the business, to Tenute del Mondo, Stoli’s wine division. This transaction was made at the tail end of 2021, and by February 2022, Brad Pitt had lodged a lawsuit against Angelina Jolie for selling her shares, claiming that her half should have gone to him. The Bullet Train actor was also looking to gather monetary damages and have his legal fees paid for by his ex-wife.
He Claimed Jolie Was Trying To Inflict Harm
As we know, the legal system in the United States works pretty slowly so the gears weren’t really grinding with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s wine-based case, with the next big movement happening over last summer. This is the moment that Pitt will likely look back on and question if it was the correct decision as he filed more documents to the court that claimed his ex-wife was going out of her way to “inflict harm” on him when it came to their once shared business. The actor’s legal team based their belief on the alleged grounds that Jolie had sold her shares to chip away at Pitt’s hold on the company.
An Attempt To Cover Up Something More Sinister?
That catches us up to the most recent day in court on March 13 when Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie once again pleaded their cases inside a Los Angeles, California courtroom. Although it first appeared that Pitt had come out victorious, of the claims asserted by the actor, only two of them were held up in court – with even his original allegation tossed.
Taking some space to speak about what he believed the core issue to be, Jolie’s attorney said, “Mr. Pitt’s lawsuit has never been about a business dispute; instead, it is about his attempts to cover up serious abuse, and we are gratified the judge has thrown out so much of Mr. Pitt’s complaint.”
Expect More Feuding
With the latest legal tussle between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie now coming to a close, we’re all but certain that we’ll see both members back in court in the approaching years. Aside from the Johnny Depp v. Amber Heard case, Pitt and Jolie have taken the limelight when it comes to celebrity breakups turned incredibly messy and devastating.
