The year 2022 is certainly not off to a good start. After the unfortunate demise of actress Betty White, renowned stand-up comedian and actor Bob Saget passed away on January 9, 2022. At the time of Bob Saget’s death, the cause behind his sudden passing was unknown but a recent report has revealed that the Fuller House star passed away peacefully in his sleep.
As per sources for TMZ and The Daily Mail, while the police suspect that Bob Saget’s cause of death to be a heart attack or stroke, the Orange County Medical Examiner’s office will take 10 to 12 weeks to declare an official reason. The police are also investigating the possibility of Saget’s death due to complications or side-effects arising out of COVID-19 as the comedian had recently revealed during his appearance on the podcast, A Corporate Time with Tom & Dan, that he had recently battled coronavirus and recovered. According to Mayo Clinic, heart attacks and strokes may be more likely following recovery from COVID-19.
The actor was staying at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Orlando the night of his death and was “tucked in bed” when his body was discovered by the hotel staff around 4 pm EST, as reported by TMZ. As per the outlet, the lights were turned off in his room and he reportedly talked to his wife, Kelly Rizzo, on the phone before turning in for the night. He had also performed at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall in Jacksonville earlier that night. He took to his social media handles to share he felt like “when I was 26” on the stage and is “loving every moment” of “finding my new voice.” This was mere hours before Bob Saget’s death.
Bob Saget’s death wasn’t discovered until later the next day. When his wife was unable to contact him, she grew worried as he was supposed to be on a flight returning to L.A. on Sunday. She proceeded to call the hotel, post which the security team entered Bob Saget’s room and discovered him lying face-up on his bed with his left arm across his chest while his right arm was on the bed. TMZ had reported that according to its sources, Bob Saget’s position indicated that his death might have been due to a heart attack or stroke.
DailyMail.com has also obtained the 911 call made by security officer Jody Lee Harrison who had entered Bob Saget’s room and discovered his body. As per the outlet, the officer shared with dispatch about “an unresponsive guest” who has “no pulse,” is “not responsive,” “not breathing,” and is “cold to the touch.” As per the police report shared by the outlet, no signs of foul play were discovered in the room. The report states that there were no signs of trauma and a homicide team was called upon the discovery of Bob Saget’s body only to follow protocol. The Sheriff’s office has also released a statement stressing the same and shared that Bob Saget’s death was not being treated as a homicide.
Post Bob Saget’s death on Sunday, his wife Kelly Rizzo addressed her late husband in a heartfelt statement to Us Weekly. In her statement, she shared that Saget was her “whole heart.” His sudden death has left her “completely shattered and in disbelief.” She also added that “when the time is right and when this news is not as raw,” she will be “sharing more of Bob with the world.”
