Ashton Kutcher Is The Next Celebrity Diddy Is Taking Down With Him

By Jonathan Klotz | Published

Social media sleuths have been on a tear following the arrest of Sean “Diddy” Combs by the Department of Justice for a litany of crimes, ranging from racketeering to sex trafficking, trying to figure out who knew what, when they knew it, and just how deep into Hollywood is this latest scandal going to go. After Kevin Hart and Usher were swept up in the initial groundswell, it seems like Ashton Kutcher’s years-long friendship with the music mogul is being re-examined. To date, it’s all circumstantial evidence, but in the court of public opinion, that’s often all it takes.

Ashton Kutcher Is Feeling The Heat From Diddy’s Arrest

A source close to Ashton Kutcher gave a statement to PEOPLE on September 25, saying, “Ashton has only seen Diddy in a handful of social and business events, all of which have been documented by the media.” While it’s good that Ashton is getting something out there, the That 70’s Show star himself, like so many other Hollywood celebrities, has yet to say anything in public about the situation, and considering their friendship stretches back to the early 2000s, over two decades ago, it stands to reason that the two were close.

After all, Ashton Kutcher hosted Diddy’s 2009 White Party, one of the mogul’s signature events that included a who’s who of the rich and famous.

A Friendship Going Back Over 20 Years

The statement from “a source close to Ashton Kutcher,” which, again, is not officially from Ashton or his team, is trying to cover up a bit of the truth directly from Kutcher and Diddy themselves. The pair appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden on June 12, 2018, with Kutcher stating, “We were spending a lot of time together. By the way, if you’re a single man, there’s probably no greater human being in the world than him. We were having a lot of fun together.”

Diddy even joked about the pair putting together a “Diddy/Kutcher 2020” presidential ticket. They even discussed how they first met when Kutcher was hosting Punk’d, and Diddy was hosting Making the Band, both of which were MTV shows. Now, appearing jointly and talking about their friendship isn’t the type of thing people who only met a handful of times would do together.

Kutcher Attended Diddy’s Parties

In 2019, during a Hot Ones interview, Ashton Kutcher was asked about Diddy’s parties, and he couldn’t think of any appropriate stories to tell on the air. Between their joint appearances and over 20 years of friendship, the assumption that Kutcher knew about Diddy’s activities is, sadly, a reasonable one to make.

Just look at Kevin Hart, caught on camera hosting one of Diddy’s “freak-off” events alongside a pair of scantily clad women. If there’s a video of Hart, it stands to reason that there’s likely a video out there of Kutcher at one of Diddy’s events, but is it a tape of harmless fun among friends, or does it include the sort of activity that has landed the rapper behind bars while he awaits trial?

Right now, no one knows.

This Has Happened Before

Complicating the issue is that Ashton Kutcher has a strong history of being an advocate against human trafficking, helping to co-found the non-profit Thorn, which seeks to keep children safe online and to break the cycle of abuse. It’s a good cause, but Kutcher had to step away after he wrote a letter in support of his old co-star, Danny Masterson, after Masterson was found guilty of rape. Now, with Diddy facing trafficking charges, the very thing that Kutcher talked about in front of Congress, it again, at the very least, looks bad.

The optics of one close friend being a rapist and another getting the weight of the federal government thrown against him for a series of serious charges means that, at the very least, Ashton Kutcher needs to choose better friends.

Hollywood’s Silence

More information is coming out about Diddy’s sprawling criminal empire every day, either from former associates trying to get ahead of their own charges or maybe to leverage for a book deal, but the silence from Hollywood is almost impressive at this point. Ashton Kutcher hasn’t said anything publicly, and his wife, Mila Kunis, has also been staying away from the public. Diddy had a lot of very famous friends, and even more famous figures stopped by his parties, including Jay-Z, Beyonce, and former President Donald Trump, so who is going to break the silence first, and when they do, how many careers are going to be swept into the toilet?
