Anya Taylor-Joy Stuns In Sexy Addams Family Inspired Dress

Last we heard, Tim Burton was still working on his Addams Family spin-off Wednesday for Netflix. As far as we know, Anya Taylor-Joy of The Queen’s Gambit fame hasn’t been cast in the series, but judging by what the actress posted to social media yesterday, Burton may want to give her a call. Showing off the outfit she wore to the Oscars after-party, Taylor-Joy proved that she can pull off spooky and sexy in equal measure.
Anya Taylor-Joy posted the images of herself in an Addams Family-inspired dress to her official Instagram account. Rather than calling it her Oscars after-party get-up, Taylor-Joy called it an “Addams Family date night.” In one of the images her boyfriend Malcolm McRae appears alongside her. According to Vogue, Anya Taylor-Joy’s black, sheer lingerie-style dress comes from Dior, as does her netted fascinator. Her diamond necklace, earrings, and ring are from Tiffany & Co. The look is apparently a part of a growing trend among celebrities of lingerie-style outfits. Vogue points out other famous women like Dakota Johnson and Rihanna have recently been spotted in similar ensembles.
Anya Taylor-Joy last entered the superhero world via the long-delayed The New Mutants. In the wake of the massive success of Matt Reeves’ The Batman, however, there are rumblings that the actress could be poised to enter that particular corner of DC’s cinematic universe. According to one of GFR’s trusted and proven sources, the actress is in talks to star in a follow-up to the Batman as Dr. Harleen Quinzel herself aka Harley Quinn. Of course it’s Margot Robbie who last appeared as Quinn in The Suicide Squad, but since the two films take place in different narratives, a different actress is needed.
If she ends up becoming the next Harley Quinn, she won’t be the first violently heroic character Anya Taylor-Joy takes over from another actress. She’s set to play a younger version of the titular antagonist of Furiosa. Currently expected to drop in 2024, Furiosa will be a prequel to 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road in which Charlize Theron played the fierce character. Back in January, Taylor-Joy posted a video of an impressive car stunt she was performing in preparation for Furiosa. You can see that video below.
Don’t let The Queen’s Gambit fool you — by all accounts, Anya Taylor-Joy is a tough actor prepared to endure quite a lot to make her art happen. If her roles in films like The New Mutants and Furiosa don’t convince you, there’s her part in the upcoming Viking revenge thriller The Northman. Speaking to Vogue about making the movie in Northern Ireland, Taylor-Joy recalled scenes when she was “ankle deep” in mud or straight-up dropped into the ocean. “I looked insane. So infuriatingly joyful,” she told Vogue “The stunt guys would say, ‘Can we get out of the water now?’ And I was like, ‘This is amazing. Nature! We’re outside! We get to make art.'” If you want to see what it was she made, The Northman hits theaters April 22.
