Anne Hathaway Stuns In A Strapless White Gown
Anne Hathaway shows off her sense of style in this white Versace gown.
Long before Robert Pattinson as Batman faced a different kind of feminine feline foe, Anne Hathaway played Catwoman in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Night Rises. At the time, some fans inevitably debated whether she gave a convincing performance, particularly compared to Michelle Pfeiffer, who played the antihero role so convincingly in Batman Returns. But aside from the fact that Hathaway is an amazing actor, these stunning images of her posing in a strapless white Versace gown have convinced us she could win over anyone’s heart, even billionaires who spend their free time dressed as bats.
Like many of our other favorite celebrities, including Guardians of the Galaxy star Karen Gillan, Anne Hathaway tends to give credit to those who bring her killer fashions to life. In this case, she begins with a quote from designer Donatella Versace about the design philosophy that went into the dress. According to the quote, Versace sees the safety pin as a symbolic embodiment of rebellion, and she wanted to design a dress that prominently featured safety pins because “I’m punk in the soul.”
While we love punk rebellion as much as anyone who grew up rooting for the Rebellion in Star Wars, we have to say that this dress looks more dangerous than anything we’d like to wear on our own bodies. After all, it looks like Anne Hathaway is just one wrong move from being punctured by dozens of different not-so-safe safety pins. Then again, maybe this is how the sexy actress pivots to horror: like the Hellraiser antagonist Pinhead, Hathaway likely has “such sights” to show us.
Not content to simply include the quote from Donatella Versace, Anne Hathaway also thanked “the one and only” designer “for this incredible moment.” In this case, the moment in question was Hathaway’s appearance at the Meta Gala earlier this month. She turned many heads that night, and fashionistas noted that her dress was clearly inspired by the dress that Austin Powers star Elizabeth Hurley wore way back in 1994 at the premiere of Hugh Grant’s film Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Speaking of premieres, it looks like Anne Hathaway has quite a few exciting projects lined up for the future. This includes The Idea of You, in which she plays a divorced mom who gets a new shot at love after traveling to Coachella with her daughter and meeting the singer for a band. She will also be starring in Bum’s Rush, a quirky film that focuses on the relationship between Hathaway’s bootmaker character and a stray dog voiced by Ghostbusters star Bill Murray.
All of this goes to prove that Anne Hathaway remains one of the hardest-working professionals in all of Hollywood. Not content to make everyone’s jaws fall to the ground in this strapless white gown, she’s also out to prove she’s one of the greatest actors in the business. For anyone else, it would be challenging to pull it all off, but we discovered long ago that where Anne hath a will, Anne most certainly hath a way.
