Ana de Armas rang in the new year on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The Cuban-Spanish actress talked about her love of Ben and Jerry’s “The Tonight Dough” ice cream, addressed her fears of playing one of the most iconic actresses of all time in the Marylin Monroe semi-biographical feature, Blonde, and played the “Three-Word Movie” game. Always the elegant and glamorous goddess, the actress appeared on the show in a gorgeous high-slit black gown.

Ana de Armas is known for bursting with poise and glamour, just like the queen of glamour herself—Marilyn Monroe, whom the actress portrayed in her most recent movie. The Knives Out star’s look was no different for her appearance on The Tonight Show. Though the dress was a simple solid-colored piece, de Armas styled it with silver jewelry and shoes for a completed monochromatic look.
On the show, Ana de Armas wore a fitting black gown with short sleeves and a modest scoop-neck collar. The dress featured a dramatic side slit that crept up her thigh and tied with the rest of the dress in an elegant knot at the actress’s hip. The dress was solid black, but de Armas paired it with a sparkling silver statement ring on her finger that matched her crystal high heels.
The sleek, black leather stilettos Ana de Armas wore were designed by Gianvito Rossi and are valued at $1,195. The shoes were thin and pointed with two small straps across the ankle and toes, which were completely studded with sparkling white crystals. The slit in the actress’s long dress was perfectly strategized to show off her elegant heels, which made de Armas’ look more formal and refined.
Ana de Armas wore her hair in simple loose waves with a middle part. She wore her makeup in a natural style that accentuated her brown eyes and topped the look off with a glossy pink lip. Overall, the outfit gave the actress an effortlessly elegant appearance which she pulled off perfectly.
The 34-year-old actress began her career in Cuba, where she starred in the romantic drama Una rosa de Francia in 2006. In 2014, Ana de Armas moved to Los Angeles and began picking up small speaking roles in American films. Her first Hollywood breakout role was as the projections of holographic AI Joi in 2017’s Bladerunner 2049.
Ana de Armas would go on to earn her first Golden Globe nomination for her performance as the nurse Marta Cabrera in Rian Johnson’s first Detective Benoit Blanc film, Knives Out, in 2019. And while her most recent film, Blonde, has received some criticism for controversial aspects, de Armas has garnered high praise for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe, a role that earned the actress her second Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress.
Ana de Armas’ portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in Blonde is the only nomination the film has received for the 80th Golden Globes, which will be held on January 10. And while the Academy Award nominations for 2022 films have not yet been released, de Armas’ prior co-star from Knives Out, Chris Evans, believes that Blonde will be a major Oscar contender as well.
