See Ana De Armas Fit Into A Gorgeous Designer Gown
Ana de Armas looked amazing at the 80th Golden Globes in a Louis Vuitton gown.
Ana de Armas recently appeared at the 80th Golden Globe Awards ceremony to present an award, but before she did, she got suited up in a gorgeous designer gown for the red carpet. In a multi-picture post to her Instagram account, the Gray Man star showed off the Louis Vuitton gown she wore to the awards ceremony, posing in a series of hotel backgrounds. Ana de Armas was also nominated for an award herself at the Golden Globes for her part in the Netflix biopic Blonde.
As one can see in the photo set, Ana de Armas is wearing a fabulous designer dress in black and silver, designed by Nicolas Ghesquière. Reportedly, the dress used 800 3D sequins in order to create its elaborate geometric front panel and more than 150 hours of craftwork. The actual design of Ana de Armas’ gown is a take on Louis Vuitton’s iconic flower pattern, as seen on the company’s signature handbags.
The first picture in the set sees the Cuban-Spanish actress from the side, her head tilted toward the camera and showing off a bejeweled bracelet (also from Louis Vuitton). The Blonde star thoughtfully took the time to tag seemingly her entire cosmetic team in the photo, from her hairstylist Jenny Cho, makeup artist Mélanie Inglessis, and nail artist Ashlie Johnson. Ana de Armas also tagged Louis Vuitton (for whom she is a brand ambassador), cosmetics company Estee Lauder, her stylist Samantha McMillen, her dress designer Nicolas Ghesquière, and public relations agency Wolf|Kasteler. If nothing else, she seems diligent about credits.
The 80th Golden Globes ceremony was back on broadcast television after a year in which the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (which runs the awards program) was criticized for not having any Black members in its 100+ membership body. Top Gun: Maverick actor Tom Cruise notably returned his awards to the HFPA (for which he was the butt of several jokes during the ceremony) in protest. Academy Award favorite Brendan Fraser also chose not to attend the ceremony (after being nominated for The Whale) due to his allegations that he had been assaulted by a previous head of the HFPA.
However, many other stars like Ana de Armas showed up in style for the audience, including Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Brunson, Jessica Chastain (who was nominated for the Showtime limited series George & Tammy), and The Banshees of Inisherin’s Colin Farrell. Ana de Armas actually presented the award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy to Farrell, who took time before his speech to praise the actress for her performance as Marilyn Monroe in Blonde.
Blonde ended up being one of the more controversial movies of 2022, with Ana de Armas’ portrayal of the iconic actress noted for its extensive nudity (which she claimed to be annoyed by the internet’s fixation on. The movie itself was criticized for its extensive fictionalization of Monroe’s life and accused of pruriently fixating on female suffering as a form of entertainment. Ana de Armas was nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for the role.
