The long-standing feud between Johnny Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard is still ongoing, as both parties are now locked in yet another court battle. Depp is now suing his Heard for defamation of character, which is from an op-ed piece she published in the Washington Post. This article spoke about how she was a victim of violence and domestic abuse. According to Depp, this article led to his losing a potential Pirates franchise reboot and him being fired from the Fantastic Beasts franchise as well. However, Heard took to her Instagram to speak on her opinions before the defamation suit begins. According to the actress, “I never named him, rather I wrote about the price women pay for speaking against men in power. I continue to pay that price, but hopefully when this case concludes, I can move on and so can Johnny.” She added, “I have always maintained a love for Johnny and it brings me great pain to have to live out the details of our past life together in front of the world.” You can see her full post below:

One thing is certain, having to live out your private lives to the world is certainly going to be difficult for anyone involved. They are both famous figures in the world of Hollywood, and as such, their whole lives are usually in front of the camera. However, having to deal with public marital problems is awful. Fans of Johnny Depp were so enthralled in believing his side of the story, that a petition was launched to get Amber Heard fired from Aquaman 2. That was not successful, but people felt as if she had been lying about the situation. Depp had even privately accused Heard of being the “perpetrator” of violence, not the victim.

The pair were married in 2015 but shortly broke up in 2016 when Amber Heard got a domestic abuse restraining order against Depp. They settled their divorce out of court in 2016, but the op-ed piece was released in 2018, which led to the now defamation suit from Depp. Although he filed this suit in 2019, plenty of delays has led to the court case happening now, three years later. The suit will begin on Monday in Fairfax, Virginia, and Depp is suing for $50 million. It has also been reported that the suit will be televised on Court TV. Having to deal with your personal life in the public eye is one thing, but now the world will get to tune in, even more, to see what will happen in the case.

Amber Heard has let her opinions be known, and her proclaiming her love for Johnny Depp might be all part of her plan to get this case swung in her favor, but all she really wants is to move on with her life. We don’t blame her. Dealing with an ex-husband since 2016 is not something that anyone would want to deal with. There is no telling how long this lawsuit will take, but once it has been settled, hopefully, the result will please both parties. Someone is going to come out on top here, but the result of the case should allow everyone to move on. While Depp may have been cast out from Fantastic Beasts and a potential Pirates reboot, he is still moving on with his career. This whole situation might be water under the bridge by next year. Assuming the court case has been settled.
