Amber Heard almost broke the internet by announcing that she’s a mom. The actress shared the happy news with fans on Thursday, in a post on Instagram. “I’m so excited to share this news with you,” she wrote. Her words were accompanied by a beautiful of herself cuddling her baby.
Born on April 8th, Oonagh Paige is now 12-weeks old and Amber Heard has loving referred to her as “the beginning of the rest of my life.” Check out the post that had everyone buzzing.
Amber Heard, who is currently in a relationship with cinematographer Bianca Butti, went on to say that approaching motherhood on her own terms gave her a new appreciation of “how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way.”
She went on to express hope that society would one day normalize the desire “to not want a ring in order to have a crib.” Amber Heard ended her lengthy caption by saying that while she wanted to “uphold that my private life is none of anyone’s business,” she felt compelled “to take control of this” and introduce her baby to the world herself.
The baby’s middle name, Paige, is probably a tribute to the Aquaman star’s mother, Paige Heard, who passed away in May last year. Speaking about the loss of her mom at the time, Amber Heard said she was “heartbroken and devastated beyond belief.”
It has been a turbulent couple of years for Amber Heard, who had been locked in a feud with ex-husband Johnny Depp after their two-year marriage ended in divorce in 2017. In November last year, Depp lost a high-profile libel case against Britain’s The Sun newspaper over claims he was an abusive husband. Another trial in Depp’s defamation case against Amber Heard, filed in the Virginia courts, was delayed to April 2022 due to the ongoing global pandemic.
Speaking to Page Six, a source close to Amber Heard said Oonagh is absolutely gorgeous, and Amber is besotted because always wanted to be a mom. The baby is her “greatest wish come true”. The source added that Amber Heard is also very grateful to the wonderful woman who helped bring Oonagh into her life.
Little Oonagh was born via surrogate and Amber Heard feels that it’s important to be open about it because there are so many women who feel they can’t talk about their fertility and are worried and embarrassed. The actress wants them to feel supported and realize that there are many ways to have a baby even if you have fertility issues.
In movie news, Amber Heard is officially gearing up for Aquaman 2 and possibly a bigger role in his highly-anticipated sequel. While there are no official plot details for Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom, James Wan is set to resume directing duties with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick returning to pen the script.
The film will see Jason Momoa reprising his role as Arthur Curry/Aquaman alongside Amber Heard as Mera and Patrick Wilson back as Orm. Other returning cast members include Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta as well as Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, and Dolph Lundgren.
