If you follow Alexandra Daddario’s Instagram then you could hardly be blamed for feeling a little jealous of the White Lotus star. She often posts of exotic looking locales, running on beaches and trying on glamorous outfits. The video Daddario shared over the weekend may cure you of any lingering envy, however. The actress was soaked to the bone in a rainstorm, and from the looks of it she just about had the scare of her life.

The post Alexandra Daddario shared didn’t have a geographical tag, but it really doesn’t need one. As The Hollywood Reporter noted in May, Daddario is in Louisiana filming Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, and as anyone who’s spent a good amount of time in the American southeast can tell you, that kind of weather is the type you have to get used to if want to spend more than five minutes in the place. You can see Daddario looking like her car literally saved her life in the video below.

The video is a far cry from what we usually get from Alexandra Daddario. Normally on Instagram, she’s lounging by the pool or sunbathing, but at least this weekend’s post shows the actress isn’t afraid to show the ups and downs of her life. Clearly fame has brought the actress opportunity, money, and some fantastic wardrobes; but it’s also brought her travel to places where the rain can hit you like an apocalypse with no warning.

The series Alexandra Daddario is making while being assaulted by the clouds above Louisiana is Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, based on the titular novelist’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches book series from the nineties. Daddario leads the series as Dr. Rowan Mayfair, a neurosurgeon who discovers she’s part of an ancient line of powerful witches. Joining Daddario in the show is Harry Hamlin as the Mayfair patriarch Cortland, Jack Huston as Lasher, Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien, Beth Grant as Carlotta, Jen Richards as Jojo, Annabeth Gish as Dierdre, and Erica Gimpel as Ellie.

There’s no word on exactly when Mayfair Witches will premiere, though it’s expected to hit AMC some time this year. With the home series of AMC’s other big horror themed franchise, The Walking Dead, about to conclude, it’s likely the cable network is hoping Alexandra Daddario’s upcoming series will provide them with another big genre franchise. Naturally, as the show will adapt stories from Anne Rice, fans can expect plenty of sex, violence, and intrigue. Not to mention there’s some obvious spinoff potential. Not only did Rice’s book series include novels focusing on other characters, but characters from Mayfair Witches actually appeared in her Vampire Chronicles books. It could very well be that spell-casting witches will be just one type of the supernatural creatures we’re bound to meet in the show.

Also coming this year — and also without a specific release date yet attached — is Matt Smukler’s coming-of-age drama Wildflower in which Alexandra Daddario will star. Described as a “dark comedy” about growing up with a parent with an intellectual disability, Wildflower will boast an impressive cast including Jacki Weaver, Jean Smart, Kiernan Shipka, Charlie Plummer, Brad Garrett, and more.
