Alex Aniston is the half-brother of Jennifer Aniston. He is 33 years old and has lived a nomadic lifestyle.
Sometimes, siblings of famous celebrities like to milk it for all its worth. They love being seen everywhere with their famous brother or sister and have no problem opening up to discuss the star. One person you will not find liking it or opening up about it is Alex Aniston, half-sibling to former Friends star, Jennifer Aniston.
ALEX ANISTON IS 33 YEARS OLD AND WAS ONCE INVOLVED IN THE HOLLYWOOD LIFE
It’s not like Alex Aniston didn’t try, because he did. With his father, John Aniston, who recently passed away at the age of 89, fully immersed in the Hollywood life and his half-sister, the uber-famous Jennifer Aniston, consistently in the news for one reason or another, Alex did give it a go early on. What he found out, though, was that Hollywood was not a lifestyle he wished to live.
Alex Aniston, who likes to be called AJ or Aja Nezitic when he is trying to distance himself from his family, was born in 1989 in Los Angeles to John Aniston and his second wife, Sherry Rooney.
As a child, he played the Hollywood part, appearing at premieres and red-carpet events with his family. But as he grew, he began to tire of Hollywood, more importantly, tired of all the notoriety his half-sister was getting as she climbed the A-list ladder.
As Alex’s frustration with Hollywood grew, he ventured further and further into the background. The last time he was seen publicly with his half-sister was in 2014 when he attended the premiere of Jennifer Aniston’s feature film, Along Came Polly, in which she starred with Ben Stiller, Debra Messing, Alec Baldwin, Hank Azaria, Kevin Hart, and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.
ALEX ANISTON LIVED IN A VAN TRAVELING THE CALIFORNIA COAST
Alex grew up and once he was able to, he struck out on his own. For the longest time, Alex Aniston lived in a clapped-out van, traveling up and down California’s coastline, selling animal skulls to make ends meet, and attending political protests to make a statement. During this time, Alex met Adriane Hallek. The pair settled into a somewhat normal life, eventually having two children, but more on that in a bit.
Alex Aniston and Hallek eventually split, and Aniston moved on with an Australian-born veterinary technician, Kiri Peita. Their lifestyle is not even close to the lifestyle Alex led as a young boy or what his half-sister lives with now. Apparently, the pair are living in a northern California beach town in conditions that are less than pleasant.
HE HAS TWO CHILDREN, RYAT AND KIRA
As previously mentioned, Alex Aniston was in a relationship with Adriane Hallek. Their relationship produced two children, Ryat, his son who was born in 2014, and a daughter, Kira, who was born in 2016. Alex no longer sees either of his kids and it is said he has completely abandoned them.
A source who is very close to the children’s mother says, “AJ does not see either of his children, and he’s only met Kira once. He doesn’t pay child support, but it’s never been asked of him.”
ALEX ANISTON AND JENNIFER ANISTON HAVE DIFFERENT MOTHERS AND AN OLDER BROTHER
As Alex Aniston and his sister Jennifer are half-siblings, it means that one of their parents is different. These two have the same father but different mothers. Alex’s mother is actress Sherry Rooney, while Jennifer’s mother is Nancy Dow, an actress from the ‘60s who made her name in such television series as The Beverly Hillbillies, The Wild Wild West, and Mr. Terrific.
Not only do the half-siblings have different mothers, but they have an older half-brother, John Melick. Well, to be technically correct, it is Jennifer Aniston’s half-brother from her mother’s marriage prior to Nancy Dow marrying John Aniston. This would make John Melick Alex Aniston’s older half-stepbrother.
There is no word on just how John and Alex get along, or if the brothers even see each other. It wouldn’t be surprising, though, if the brothers don’t speak. Alex has made no bones about not wanting to have anything to do with the “Hollywood” side of the family and John Melick’s career is within the entertainment industry.
John Melick has worn a few Hollywood hats that include an assistant director and production manager. He is known for his work on feature films such as 1992’s Universal Soldier, 2003’s Thirteen, and 2012’s Piranha 3D.
HE DOES NOT LIKE BEING JENNIFER ANISTON’S HALF-BROTHER
There apparently is no love loss between the half-siblings. Jennifer does not talk about Alex and Alex does not want to have anything to do with Jennifer or her ritzy lifestyle. Pretty much since Alex was last seen at the Along Came Polly premiere with Jennifer, that was the last time the siblings have been together.
A source who is close to the actress claims that before John Aniston passed away, he was the source that kept Jennifer updated on her half-brother’s comings and goings. But as the source said, “And from AJ’s perspective, he’s an anti-consumerist punk who despises her life of luxury. He thinks she lacks understanding of the real world.”
Alex Aniston was at the Burning Man music festival when Daily Mail caught up to him to get his thoughts on his famous sister. He was obviously unimpressed. “It’s been happening since middle school [people asking about Jennifer]. It’s been a pain in my ass for years. No comment.”
Very little is known about the day-to-day life of Alex Aniston. While he continues to avoid any type of spotlight, it is said Alex loves nature and hiking as well as traveling. He has also been called a very creative guy and an artist. It is said that Alex Aniston makes his own clothing, and he loves to create original bicycles out of different bike parts.
Some siblings of famous celebrities simply like to stay out of the spotlight. It can be tough trying to live up to the shine one’s famous sibling brings to the table. No doubt, Alex Aniston is one of those types of people.
You can’t blame Alex Aniston. Hollywood and all its tentacles can be very demanding and very intrusive. He may just be better off living the life he has chosen.
