Al Roker had another health scare one day after being released from the hospital after Thanksgiving. PEOPLE reported that Roker was rushed to the hospital and his condition improved after he was under their care again. Roker was initially admitted to the hospital for blood clots in his legs and lungs.

Al Roker’s health concerns caused him to miss Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for the first time in 27 years. Unfortunately, Roker also had to miss the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Center. Hopefully the rest and recovery period will give Roker the time he needs to get healthy.

Al Roker is best known for his work as a weather anchor on the Today Show and is the current weather anchor for NBC’s Today. Roker also co-hosts 3rd Hour Today. Of course, he’s also well known for the aforementioned hosting gigs of major holiday events.

Today’s current on-air weekday staff includes Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb as co-anchors, Al Roker as the weather anchor, Craig Melvin as the news anchor, and Carson Daly as the features anchor. Previous anchors that Roker has worked with include Matt Lauer, Katie Couric, Meridith Viera, and Ann Curry. In 2018, Roker celebrated his 40th year at NBC, marking a long illustrious career for America’s most well-known weatherman.

Al Roker also happens to hold the distinct honor of having the Guinness World Record for the longest uninterrupted live weather report with 34 hours of reporting during his first Roker-thon fundraising event for the military and USO. Roker would hold two more Roker-thons after the initial record-setting event, with Roker-thon 2 featuring him reporting weather from all 50 states for Feeding America. The most recent Roker-thon was in 2017 when Roker visited various colleges and set a Guinness World Record at each one.

In addition to being one of America’s most famous weathermen, Al Roker has been featured in various TV shows and films, usually as himself. Most recently, he reprised his voice role of Faustian version of himself in the Proud Family 2022 revival The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. His wish-granting character drove the entire plot of an episode titled “When You Wish Upon a Roker.”

Other movies and shows that Al Roker has cameoed in include Seinfeld, The Blacklist, Zombieland: Double Tap, the Sharknado films, 30 Rock, and many more. Roker has also co-authored several books, including some murder mysteries and a non-fiction book with his wife. Hopefully, Roker can make a full recovery soon so he can get back to doing what he does best.

Fortunately, it does seem like Al Roker is in good spirits while he recovers. He has been keeping concerned fans updated with positive social media posts and he also showed his support for his co-anchors by tuning in to Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade while recovering in the hospital. While blood clots are not a health scare to take lightly, it seems like Roker is getting the best care possible and is on his way to heading home again soon.
