How It Started
Drew has been an avid lover of movies since his earliest days. His first job was in a local video store where he caught the attention of an NBC2 News staff member. She had him film a few weekly reviews at the local station and Drew has been reviewing movies ever since.
His first gig in the entertainment journalism sphere came in 2012 when he began writing for CHUD, one of the hottest websites in the burgeoning online entertainment coverage ecosystem. His reviews eventually led to covering breaking news in the world of movies and television.
After that, Drew became one of the founding contributors to Fandom, the editorial arm of what was once known as Wikia, the largest collective of fan wikis on the internet. As a founding contributor, Drew was then hired by Fandom as their Entertainment Editor. His duties included being the lead movie reviewer for the site – gaining him Rotten Tomatoes accreditation – as well as reporting breaking entertainment, crafting unique articles and recurring columns, while also managing freelance contributors for the site.
During this time, Drew also created GenreVision, a podcast network that includes the flagship weekly movie club show. It has been steadily putting out episodes for almost 10 years in addition to other podcast projects like Fin Flicks, a show about aquatic creature features that has interviewed author Steve Alten and has been quoted for the marketing of the blockbuster film The Meg.
Drew has also spent time contributing to Bloody Disgusting, the premier horror website on the internet. He ran a recurring column about appreciating ‘90s horror films as well as other special features during his time there.
In 2020 Drew was recruited to join the team GIANT FREAKIN ROBOT as a writer. He swiftly worked his way up through the ranks until reaching the position of Chief Content Officer of Walk Big’s entire network.
How It’s Going
Now, Drew spends his time managing a huge team of talented editors and writers, overseeing the content across all Walk Big Media sites, and looking for new voices to join in the fun. He currently lives with his cat, Jujube, and a whole lot of Jaws merch. In his spare time, he likes to read horror novels from the ‘70s and ‘80s.
