Time Of The Doctor Pics Threaten You With…Wooden Cybermen?
From the sound of things, the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special The Time of the Doctor will be throwing in everything plus an array of kitchen sinks from various alternate timelines. Now a new batch of photos gives us looks at the angry Daleks, a wooden Cyberman, and the Doctor doing his best Harry Potter impression.
POTENTIAL TIME OF THE DOCTOR SPOILERS BELOW!
Radio Times posted the images, which include your usual Christmas special mix of the TARDIS, the time lord, and assorted bits of holiday flair. Our favorites of the whole batch are these first two, which give us a very Harry Potter vibe, with a detached Dalek eyestalk standing in for a wand. Between that and the severed Cyberman head he keeps carrying around in the earlier shots, the Doctor seems to have taken a turn for the eviscerate-y. Also, we’re guessing the Daleks aren’t impressed by the Doctor’s magic tricks. PRES-TI-DI-GI-TATE!
And then we have what appears to be your standard-edition Cyberman, except made of wood. Why would you need a wooden Dalek? Maybe they’re going to face off against the Golden Age Green Lantern? Well, there are rumors that the episode involves the Doctor fighting a centuries-long war against the Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels, and the Silence. How did he spend his Free Time of the Doctor during all that? Whittling.
Then there’s this lady below. That would be actress Orla Brady, playing a character named Tasha Lem, who is rumored to be “someone from the Doctor’s past.” Well, that narrows it down then.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for the special, which we’ll all be able to check out on Christmas Day. And look, Clara even cooked dinner for us.
Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe’s deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars — and amongst them, the Doctor. Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe.
