The Latest Walking Dead Clip Is Eleven Seconds Of Action And Horror
Sometimes it feels like we’re not going to get a look longer than a few measly seconds at the upcoming season four of AMC’s hit zombie drama The Walking Dead. Sure we got that extended preview coming out of San Diego Comic-Con last month, but since then it’s been a few seconds here, a few seconds there, and the latest clip, clocking in at a massive eleven seconds, continues this trend.
Calling this eleven seconds of footage is, admittedly, a bit of an overstatement. The entire video is eleven seconds long, and that includes multiple network logos and a quote from some media outlet you’ve never heard of. In reality, you clock four to five seconds of actual footage from The Walking Dead. But it’s not a bad four or five seconds, and is pretty damn exciting for such a quick hit. Still, as full of madness, horror, and action as it is, such a short clip isn’t going to provide much in the way of satisfaction.
You get fraction-of-a-second glimpses at some of your favorites returning faces, like Glenn (Steven Yeun), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), and Daryl (Norman Reedus), crossbow and all. There’s been a breach in Cell Block D of their prison stronghold—presumably one of the new areas opened up to accommodate new additions to the core group of survivors—and they have to rescue some of the new folks, especially the children. Nothing tugs at the heart strings like children in imminent danger of being devoured by the undead. This just proves, yet again, what a badass Daryl is, he can rescue a kid and aim his crossbow at the same time. What a heroic display of multitasking. At least we know that, despite all of the chaotic, even tragic, events that have gone down, we can still count on some things, like Daryl saving the day. I’m willing to bet that we’ll be able to count on Rick (Andrew Lincoln) waffling back and forth on major decisions as well.
After the conclusion of season three a sizeable amount of time has passed. How much exactly remains to be seen—though the premiere episode is called “30 Days Without an Accident,” which could provide a hint—but it was long enough for the group to make some serious improvements to their home. Yesterday AMC released a video where comic book creator, and producer on the show, Robert Kirkman gave us a guided tour of the newly renovated prison. However much time has passed, we saw that it’s enough for them to start farming their own food, explore new areas of the prison, and fortify the perimeter. Though if there is a breach, it seems like they still have a ways to go until their borders are totally secure.
The Walking Dead returns on Sunday, October 13.
