King Of The Hill Reboot Reveals Grown-up Bobby
There’s a follow-up series to King of the Hill featuring a grown-up Bobby, and the first look at his adult character has been released. Hulu has allowed some details about Bobby’s character, letting slip that he’s a chef and that his character in the upcoming series is 21. Although the show has been off the air for 14 years, much of the original cast will be returning for the show’s upcoming revival.
Bobby The Chef
A photo from King of the Hill voice actress, Grey DeLisle, was leaked on social media showing an adult Bobby in a chef’s coat and hat before it was removed. While the original image isn’t available anymore, you can find it in various forms on many social media outlets that picked up the post along with its exciting information about the upcoming King of the Hill reboot. The image was accompanied by an outline of the updated Bobby, including his career, his age, and his passion for cooking.
Although 14 years have passed here in the real world, in the TV universe of King of the Hill, only nine years have elapsed, and Bobby is a young chef working at a fusion restaurant in Dallas. He credits his dad, Hank, with inspiring his career, referring to weekends spent at the grill. Grown-up Bobby seems to have a solid career working at a Japanese/German fusion restaurant, leveraging his love of food alongside his ability to identify an excellent cut of beef.
The Returning Cast
King of the Hill co-creator Mike Judge will reprise his original voice roles as Hank and Boomhouer, and Peggy Adlon will return as the voice of Bobby. Other returning actors include Kathy Najimy as Peggy, Stephen Root as Bill, and Lauren Tom as Connie. Other additions to the cast include comedian and actor Marwan Nadji, known for his voice work on the animated series, Momo’s America, but other new cast members are being kept under wraps for now.
Sadly, not all of the original cast of King of the Hill will be able to join in on the adult adventures of Bobby, as they are no longer with us. While Johnny Hardwick sadly passed away in 2023 at the age of 64, he completed some voice work on the revival before his passing, and his character, Dale will at least make an appearance in the first season of the series. Brittany Murphy, who voiced Luanne in the original King of the Hill series passed away in 2009, and it’s not clear if her character will be recast, or if she has been written out of the revival series.
There’s no trailer and no release date yet for the King of the Hill reboot series, so this one little glimpse of Bobby as an accomplished chef is all fans will get for the moment. So far, all we know is that the new chapter of King of the Hill will be available on Hulu sometime towards the beginning of 2025.
The last episode of the original King of the Hill series aired on May 6, 2010, on Fox, making the gap between the two chapters likely about 15 years by the time the new installment will be available for streaming.
