Fans of the extremely popular sitcom The Big Bang Theory have likely already heard rumblings of multiple new spinoff projects, which include a Young Sheldon sequel centered on Georgie and Mandy Cooper, as well as a still-untitled outing which is set to follow Stuart, the owner of the Pasadena comic book store. While we still know very little about which stars from the original series will be reprising their roles in cameo appearances, Penny actress Kaley Cuoco has made it quite clear that she’s willing to return to the Big Bang Theory expanded universe.

Cuoco has confirmed that she still loves her fan-favorite character, and looks back on her tenure with the show fondly.

Kaley Cuoco Loves Penny

Over the years, there have been many on-screen performers who have grown to dislike their character, their role, or the series that made them famous. Charlie Sheen was famously fired from a Chuck Lorre sitcom back in 2011 after making a number of public disparaging statements about the production and about Lorre himself. Luckily, this doesn’t seem to be the case for Kaley Cuoco, as she has repeatedly referred to her time on The Big Bang Theory as some of the happiest years in her life.

Willing And Excited To Return

During a recent interview, Kaley Cuoco specifically explained that her Big Bang Theory role is largely responsible for pushing her career to massive heights, despite it having taken up over a decade of her time. This seems to be a shared sentiment among most of the Big Bang Theory leads, as multiple cast members have made positive comments about potentially returning in future spinoff and sequel shows. When asked if she would ever return to Penny, Cuoco enthusiastically replied “I would absolutely reprise that role. I love that character, and I always will.”

A Penny-Centric Spinoff?

In the case of Kaley Cuoco specifically, it seems as though she would even be interested in taking on a front-and-center role in a Big Bang Theory sequel of her own, if one were pitched. Depending on how things shake out for the upcoming spinoff series starring Kevin Sussman’s Stuart, Cuoco may just get her wish.

For now, there’s no word on which of the core Big Bang Theory cast will pop up in the still-untitled show, though numerous cameos are expected, since the series is expected to take place in the same neighborhood as the original Big Bang Theory.

Other Characters Returning

In addition to Kevin Sussman, two other tertiary characters from the original series have been announced as leads for the spinoff. These cast members include Lauren Lapkus, who portrayed Stuart’s love interest in seasons 11 and 12 of The Big Bang Theory, as well as Brian Posehn, who portrayed eccentric geologist Bert Kibbler.

Kaley Cuoco’s Penny has met and interacted with all three of these core characters during their time on The Big Bang Theory, and continues to live in the same Pasadena neighborhood with them, as far as fans currently know.

Expect More Of Penny

It’s possible that the new series will attempt to limit cameo appearances for the first season or so, if only to establish the series as its own entity. Still, Young Sheldon found a way to playfully incorporate numerous characters from the main cast into brief roles, including Kaley Cuoco’s Penny, who shows up as a childhood version of her Big Bang Theory self.
