Kristen Bell’s Netflix Series Is Making A Major Change Before Season 2
When it comes to streaming, especially Netflix, these days, fans always have to be at least a little on edge with their favorite series. That’s because if you don’t see your favorite show near the top of the streamer rankings, there’s always some threat it might not be around too long. But that won’t be the case for Kristen Bell’s Nobody Wants This, which has now been renewed for a second season on the streamer. But there’s a twist. The series original showrunners are out, and a new crew is heading in.
Nobody Wants This With New Showrunners
Deadline is reporting that Nobody Wants This will be back for another set of episodes, and Kristen Bell is safe here. However, series creator Erin Foster will no longer be the showrunner. At the same time, she stays on as the “creative voice,” not as the leader. Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan are in as showrunners for the show.
The two come from Lena Dunham’s Girls, both of which were listed as Executive Producers. And I Am Jenni Konner Productions worked alongside HBO Entertainment for the show.
Should Expect More Of The Same
Fans should expect much of the same creative vision with Erin Foster not leaving the series but rather seemingly just transitioning to a higher role with the show. She is still on as an executive producer for the series alongside star Kristen Bell and others.
According to the report, this deal was actually made in advance of the series premiere back on September 26th, and it didn’t come after Nobody Wants This stormed near the top of Netflix charts.
A Kristen Bell And Adam Brody Rom-Com Series
Nobody Wants This is a romantic comedy series on Netflix following Kristen Bell’s Joanne, a staunchly agnostic podcaster who meets Adam Brody’s Noah, a single rabbi. The show dives into the clear differences between the two characters in terms of lifestyle, background, beliefs, and more.
But despite how they would appear as opposites, the attraction is what makes the show work. Sure, there are silly dates and circumstances, but the exploration of cultural differences with the background of the dating scene is what has helped make the Netflix series a hit.
A Netflix Hit
While it might be surprising that Nobody Wants This is going in a slightly different creative direction for a second season, it’s not surprising the show was brought back for a second season.
Netflix reported the show saw more than 26 million views through the first 11 days on the platform. Originally titled Shiksa, there was some turmoil during the writer’s strike around whether the show would even get made. During that time there was turnover in the creative team though Erin Foster did lead the charge there.
Nobody Wants This Season 2
Nobody Wants This is at least partially based on Erin Foster’s real-life relationship with her husband, Simon Tikhman, specifically with the struggle about possibly converting to Judaism to follow in a relationship.
With the Netflix series just releasing in September, there’s no set timeline on when we will see Nobody Wants This Season 2. But it’s likely to be a top performer once again when it hits the platform.
