Sydney Sweeney Reveals Dangerous Paparazzi Stalking
It’s easy to imagine that our favorite celebs have very easy lives…after all, even when they aren’t making millions of dollars for cushy acting gigs, they have fans who hang on their every word. However, superstar Sydney Sweeney has discovered the dark side of fame, and it has nothing to do with the fans and everything to do with paparazzi invading her space. In an interview with Glamour, she described being stalked by photographers to the point that she felt in danger: “When those photos go out, then my actual safety is at risk.”
Feeling Sorry For Sydney Sweeney
No matter how you feel about Sydney Sweeney, it’s hard not to feel sorry for her based on her description of the paparazzi’s behavior.
For example, she described an event that sounded like extortion, with swarming photographers outside her Florida home telling her family “If you tell her to just come outside in a bikini, I’ll take pictures and then I’ll leave you alone.”
In addition to the behavior being outrageous and offensive on its own, what they are doing is dangerous to the young star because “Everyone knows where I am.”
No Privacy At Home
Sydney Sweeney says that thanks to paparazzi constantly hounding her, it’s hard to find much privacy at home. “Now there’s boats that go by, and I literally hear them say, ‘This is Sydney Sweeney’s house,’” she said. “It becomes a star tour in my front yard.”
All of this has proven to be very annoying, and Sydney Sweeney now takes particular exception to the bizarre rumor that she calls the paparazzi on herself as a way of keeping relevant.
To this rumor, the Euphoria star rhetorically asked, “Why would I call the paparazzi to take pictures of me at my own house when my baby cousins and family are there and I’m in my backyard? Why would I ever want that?”
All Sounds Bad
At this point, Sydney Sweeney began describing more of the paparazzi’s behavior, which sounded completely intolerable. “I have pictures of these guys in kayaks hiding in bushes in the ocean,” she said, noting that “they got there at 8 a.m. and wouldn’t leave until 4 p.m.”
She then said something that even her biggest haters would agree with: “I should be able to be in my home and feel comfortable and safe.”
Dark Side Of Fame?
While it was likely not her intent during the interview, Sydney Sweeney’s comments about the paparazzi really highlight the dark side of fame that most fans never consider.
The celeb news cycle must be constantly fed by breathless updates about our favorite actors and musicians, but all of that news comes at a cost. Just as the news cycle now lasts 24 hours a day, our favorite stars are vulnerable to stalking photographers all day and every day.
All Because Of Her Body
Being something of a realist, Sydney Sweeney is aware that the paparazzi are so obsessed with her specifically because of her body.
The star’s large breasts have launched seemingly countless bits of online discourse, some of which claims she is (gasp!) using her good looks to get ahead in Hollywood and some of which imagines her boobs as another front in the culture war.
As for Sweeney herself, she takes solace from the women who see her as an inspirational role model, saying in the interview “That means a lot to me because I really believe in empowering others and feeling powerful with your body and embracing your sexuality.”
Actual Advice?
Despite Sydney Sweeney’s constant battle with the paparazzi, she had some tongue-in-cheek advice for her fans: “If you have boobs…flaunt them.”
It’s advice that has taken many young starlets very far in Hollywood, and the HBO star is living proof that everyone should make the most of their (ahem) natural talents.
