Cheryl Hines Divorce Finally On The Table After Scandal

Jerry Oppenheimer, author of RFK Jr: Robert F Kennedy Jr. and the Dark Side of the Dream has claimed that Cheryl Hines is considering a divorce. According to the biographer, multiple people close to the actress told him that she was ready to move on from the relationship after repeated public humiliations due to her husband’s behavior. The recent news that Kennedy had an affair with reporter Olivia Nuzzi may have been the final straw. 

A friend of Cheryl Hines claims that the actress was “blindsided” by the news story prompting her to seek a divorce. Political reporter Olivia Nuzzi started a sexting relationship with Kennedy during his recent presidential candidacy, something she disclosed in late September. While Kennedy hasn’t personally commented on the affair, his team has described the relationship as one-sided on Nuzzi’s part. 

A sex scandal leading to Cheryl Hines and RFK Jr. getting divorced isn’t exactly shocking news, as the political figure’s first two marriages ended due to his well-documented cheating. Kennedy’s womanizing was revealed in detail in 2013 when a diary of his sexual exploits was discovered and released to the public. However, in his election bid, Kennedy claimed repeatedly that he’d overcome his drug and sex addictions, a claim the Nuzzi affair calls into question. 

While Oppenheimer’s sources cite the sexting scandal as the reason for Cheryl Hines considering divorce, other sources claim it is RFK’s political beliefs that have driven a wedge between the couple. Kennedy has become increasingly involved with right-wing conspiracy theories, making them central to his presidential platform. After dropping out of the race, he endorsed Donald Trump, and it’s recently been announced that Trump plans to give Kennedy a cabinet position if he’s elected. 

The hardline views of Kennedy have put the Curb Your Enthusiasm actress in a tricky position in the generally progressive world of Hollywood. While Cheryl Hines has publicly supported her husband’s political bid, his growing association with Trump may be part of why she’s considering divorce. In addition to professional issues, the actress is a longtime Democrat, and her husband’s political beliefs may have simply become too extreme for her to tolerate. 

According to Oppenheimer, the various political and sexual scandals around Kennedy have left Cheryl Hines feeling embarrassed and wanting a divorce. Bizarre stories came out of Kennedy’s presidential campaign, including the staging of a dead bear cub and the beheading of a whale. He’s also been accused of sexual assault by a former babysitter to his children.

No legal steps have been taken, but various sources are reporting that a Cheryl Hines, RFK Jr. divorce is imminent. With so many back-to-back controversies, it wouldn’t be a surprising turn of events.
