The Marvel Cinematic Universe and Sony’s Spider-Man Universe are technically in the same “world,” though they have had very few interactions over the years. But that is slowly changing, and it looks like we are getting one of the biggest overlaps yet. According to our trusted and proven sources, we are getting a cameo that could set the stage for things to come. Giant Freakin Robot has the exclusive that Tom Holland will appear in Venom: The Last Dance. It will mark the first time an MCU hero has made his way into this world.

We don’t have specific details about how Tom Holland’s Venom: The Last Dance appearance, though it doesn’t stand to reason the cameo will be a major one.

The movie’s plot is, of course, Tom Hardy and Venom-centric with a Tom Holland as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man appearance likely only to pay fan and franchise lip service more than anything else. These are usually the kind of cameos meant to set something up in the future.

Tom Hardy’s Venom In MCU

After all, we got a taste of this not all that long ago when Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock/ Venom had a quick pop-in with Spider-Man: No Way Home.

This mid-credits scene had Tom Hardy’s character transported into the main Marvel timeline via Doctor Strange’s Multiverse spell, only to quickly head back to his own.

But it wasn’t before he left just a tiny speck of symbiotic behind him. The latter could have ramifications for the MCU or could just be there in case they need a more cohesive story later. Tom Holland in Venom: The Last Dance could have a similar vibe.

Setting The Stage For More?

Whether Tom Holland’s appearance in Venom: The Last Dance is effectively returning the favor remains to be seen. But it’s likely this kind of hat-tip to the two universes colliding in some way.

Tom Holland in Venom: The Last Dance could also set the stage for a major appearance in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, maybe in a standalone movie. After all, that franchise is about, you know, Spider-Man, who hasn’t appeared yet. It’s only been about the villains in the universe.

No Way Home Reset The Character

Plus, the timing and timeline work a bit better now, considering the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which basically wiped anyone’s memory of Peter Parker / Spider-Man completely clean.

Tom Holland’s character is starting over from scratch at the end of that film, essentially removing his character’s past from the timeline completely. If there was a time for him to “start new,” then this is it.

What’s Next For Venom?

As far as Tom Holland’s Venom: The Last Dance appearance is concerned, it isn’t likely to play a major part in the plot. In this one, the third in the trilogy, Tom Hardy’s Brock/ Venom is dealing with their biggest threat yet.

Knull, the creator of all symbiotes has come to Earth with a symbiote contingent. They are looking for Venom, and this could be the end of our favorite symbiote buddy team.

Venom: The Last Dance Coming Soon

When it comes to MCU/ Sony cameos, again, they’ve been few and far between. We got Hardy in No Way Home. And going the other direction, J.K. Simmons appeared as J. Jonah Jameson in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, while Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes/Vulture showed up in Morbius

In all, these are exciting times for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. Tom Holland’s appearance in Venom is just another step in that direction. Venom: The Last Dance is due in theaters on October 25th, 2024.
