Evil Series Finale On Paramount+ Is What Fans Deserve

By Becca Lewis | Published

While Evil has come to an end, fans can at least take comfort in the planned and gratifying end in the form of a series finale. In a farewell to their loyal fans, the series creators, Michelle and Robert King got to tie up some loose ends and give beloved characters a proper send-off. The group of assessors tasked with analyzing claims of demonic possession for the catholic church wrapped up the series with four additional episodes.

Evil Comes To An End

The escapades of the Vatican’s investigators have brought them in close contact with demons–or figments of their imaginations, depending on which perspective you take on the series.

Kristen Bouchard (Katja Hebers), Ben Shakir (Aasif Mandvi), and Father David Acosta (Mike Colter) have battled the demons in their own heads, the powers that be in the upper echelons of the Vatican, and some real-life terror throughout the series. An opportunity to solve some of the riddles in the show in the last four episodes of the Evil series is the finale the audience deserves.

LeLand’s Final Move

The main villain of the series, Leland Townsend (Michael Emerson), is at his most demonic as the series heads towards its final episodes. He’s threatening pain and suffering to all mankind, appropriately over Zoom, as he ramps up his plans to deliver an antichrist to the world. His story arc, as the bringer of the apocalypse as well as a thorn in the side of forensic psychologist, Kristen Bouchard, means that his role in the Evil series finale can be no less sinister.

Good Vs. Evil

Without spoiling too much of the Evil series finale, the trio of church detectives are up against Leland’s plot to ruin mankind, so they must struggle with their own beliefs, their own fears, and the bizarre machinations of a mysterious entity known as the Grey Man. Will they be able to thwart these diabolical villains and save the human race from permanent immiseration? It will come down to a battle of good vs. evil.

The Devils Are The Easy Part

One of the things that makes Evil so compelling to fans is that the core of each supernatural Vatican mystery the team has to tackle turns out to be what lurks in the depths of the human soul.

Although there are plenty of action scenes and even physical manifestations of monsters, the real challenges the group faces often come down to knowing themselves and being able to quell their own secret fears and desires. The Evil series finale will give the characters a good chance for soul searching and allow them to test their moral fortitude.

Allowed To Bring The Story To An End

The ending of the Evil series is final, according to Paramount+, as the show has officially been canceled, and while there are no current offers for an extension, the series creators hold out some hope for a future revival.

Although I’s have been dotted and T’s have been crossed, the Kings haven’t shut the door on a future reboot, even posting some potential ways in which the series could resurrect its central conflict. For now, however, fans will have to console themselves with the final four episodes that make up the Evil series finale.
