Riverdale Star Picks Up Speed In Top 10 Movie On Prime Video
Fresh out of the halls of Riverdale High, KJ Apa has moved to the racetrack for his latest project and it’s already a hit with fans. Audiences can now head over to Prime Video to see the ex-redhead as a motocross racer trying to make a name for himself in the movie, One Fast Move, which is currently ranking #3 on the streamer’s Top 10 list. The production is the first one that Apa has taken on since his long-running role as Archie Andrews in the uber-popular CW series, Riverdale, and he looks completely different as he steps into a new character.
Following In His Father’s Footsteps
One Fast Move introduces audiences to KJ Apa’s Wes Neal, a young man who has taken more than a few punches from life and is ready to climb back to the top. As a child, Wes grew up without his father but now he hopes to reconnect with him as he wants to carry on the family tradition of becoming a professional motorcycle racer. Leaving his life behind to travel to the small town where his father lives, Wes attempts to get to know the man who abandoned him and heal his trauma wounds all while embarking on an exciting thrill of a new life.
A Stark Departure From The Riverdale Look
Joining KJ Apa in One Fast Move is Grey’s Anatomy alum Eric Dane, who plays Wes’s father, Dean. Filling out the ensemble cast is Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica) as Abel, a motorcycle shop owner who takes Wes under his wing, Maia Reficco (Pretty Little Liars) as Wes’s love interest, Camila, and Jackson Hurst (Drop Dead Diva) as the movie’s primary antagonist, Bobby Tresco.
For those out there who have been used to seeing KJ Apa with dyed red hair and dressed in a letter jacket, his look as Wes Neal in One Fast Move will be a jarring one. For the role, the New Zealand native shaved his head, revealing the brown hair that years of hair color had covered up. His latest project also allowed the actor to show off his real tattoos which can be seen covering his arms and chest.
An Underrated Kelly Blatz Project
Filmmaker Kelly Blatz is the director behind One Fast Move, who previously helmed the critically praised Senior Love Triangle. Unfortunately, Blatz’s latest project didn’t get the same positive feedback as his debut did, with One Fast Move racing onto Rotten Tomatoes with only a 33 percent approval rating. Outside of filmmaking, Blatz has had a solid career as an actor, best known as the titular character on the Disney XD series Aaron Stone, having also appeared in movies like Prom Night and shows such as Fear the Walking Dead.
Not The Last We’ll See Of KJ Apa
Now that he’s broken away from his time on Riverdale with his latest appearance in One Fast Move, the sky’s the limit for KJ Apa. The actor was previously tied to a Wonder Twins movie over at HBO but with that project canceled, he’s set his sights on other gigs. Instead, Apa’s next role will come in another film from One Fast Move’s Gulfstream Pictures, a romantic dramedy titled Falling.
Streaming One Fast Move On Amazon Prime Video
While it may have a lower score on Rotten Tomatoes than it was hoping for, One Fast Move is still performing well on its home streamer Prime Video. Because the title didn’t celebrate a cinematic release, this is your only way to see KJ Apa in his latest role as he spreads his wings and leaves Archie Andrews in the dust.
