Popular Fast Food Chain Starting Its Own Streaming Service

Netflix was the first big streaming service that gained widespread popularity, and its success paved the way for other streaming platforms, such as Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Max, and later, Disney+. It would seem that, as the years go by, more and more media companies are trying their luck in the streaming game. In fact, the streaming space has become so crowded that it’s really hard to imagine why any company would want to enter the market—except for Chick-fil-A, a fast-food chain that’s now planning to launch its streaming service.

According to sources, the restaurant is currently working with several major production companies and studios, including Glassman Media and Sugar23, to create multiple original shows in the unscripted family-friendly sphere for its Chick-Fil-A streaming platform. Besides the unscripted programming, the currently unnamed service could also feature original scripted series, licensed content, animation, and tons of other entertainment content.

The service is expected to debut sometime later this year, though there’s still no official launch date.

No Official Confirmation Yet

It’s important to note that while the reports of a Chick-Fill-A streaming service are popping up all over the internet, Chick-Fill-A has declined to comment on their decision. Without any official confirmation by the company itself, this whole report remains in the domain of speculation and hearsay, regardless of how credible the sources and internet media are. The move is most likely incentivized by bigger advertisement and customer data play, especially since more and more non-media companies are entering the streaming space.

Streaming Is In A Tough Place Today

Chick-fil-A streaming could provide the company with a new space for product placement and advertisements on top of clothing, accessories, and games it already relies on for promotion. However, many larger entertainment companies are struggling to make their streaming business profitable, and for the new service to turn a profit from ads alone, ad revenue would also have to cover production budgets and any losses the streaming service incurs. And for that to happen, Chick-fil-A streaming has to offer some really good content.

The Struggle To Stand Out

Additionally, the reported arrival of the Chick-fil-A streaming service comes at a time during which the broader streaming industry faces a boiling point. Many streamers pushed for quantity over quality, which raised their expenses, leading to price hikes. Additionally, the influx of options and constantly changing terms of service have caused many customers to rethink their subscriptions and cancel their monthly payments. This casts a shadow of doubt as to whether or not Chick-fil-A would be able to stand out in a sea of streaming services.

If Any Restaurant Could Pull This Off…

While the idea of launching an entire Chick-fil-A streaming service filled with family-friendly content just for the purposes of selling chicken might seem odd—to say the least— Chick-fil-A actually has corporate ties with the entertainment industry through Trilith Studios. So, while it ultimately isn’t so hard to wrap one’s mind around the idea of a fast-food chain looking to break into the streaming market, it’s much harder to imagine customers wanting to sign up for a subscription to a program that’s likely going to be filled with as many commercials as the next one.
