Squid Game Season 2 Is Finally Coming, See Netflix Series In Action
Fans of Netflix’s massively popular and critically acclaimed Squid Game have been waiting patiently for Season 2 ever since the 2021 cliffhanger first season finale. Now we finally got a brief teaser for the second season to drive up hype for the upcoming season, which officially arrives on Netflix on December 26. Of course, the highlight of the trailer is seeing Lee Jung-jae’s Gi-hun donning the Player 456 jumpsuit once again.
Squid Game Season 2 takes place three years after Gi-hun won the Squid Game and sees him re-entering the life-or-death game with a new intention – revenge. The first season saw Gi-hun entering the games out of financial desperation, like the rest of the participants. Now, as the sole survivor of the games, Gi-hun is ready to take down the games from the inside.
It remains to be seen if Squid Game Season 2 can recreate the cultural wildfire moment of the first season, but all signs point to yes.
Squid Game Season 2 is once again directed by Hwang Dong-Hyuk, who became the first Asian to win Outstanding Director for a Drama Series for the first season of the show. Dong-Hyuk is also writing and producing the series again and has teased that Gi-hun will be much more serious this time around. Lee Jung-jae also made history at the Emmys after the first season aired, becoming the first Asian man to win the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series Emmy.

The new cast members for Squid Game Season 2 include Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an. There are surely going to be some fan favorites emerging from this new batch, and it’s going to be exciting to see what new, terrifying games they have to participate in to win the giant money prize. It definitely wouldn’t be surprising if we see the first season get a lot of return viewers in the coming months as everyone gets ready for the second season to drop.

Squid Game Season 2 has the potential to be massive for Netflix after the first season, which became Netflix’s most popular series of all time with 1.65 billion views in the first 28 days of premiering. The series was also popular enough to get a reality competition series titled Squid Game: The Challenge. Of course, the contestants in that series weren’t murdered for losing.
